Cool Temperature Chi

by Sifu Cindy Cicero

In the past, “Cool Energy” reminded me of my earlier days in defense contract work at Litton Industries. This was a challenging time when technology was all about thin film components used in our military aircraft. The challenge was we just couldn’t get pass the “heat” factor produced by the aircraft’s environment on our very small microcircuit units. It was this excess of heated energy that needed to be cooled. These special military aircraft went experienced major temperature swings while in operation. And if the temperature could be maintained in a “cooled way” then we could have functional integrity of the micro components.

In my world today, “Cool Energy” is all about using a cool temperature bio-energy method that releases the excess heat buildup in the mind and body. We all build various amounts of daily excess stress in our bodies which in turn produces a “heat” factor. And it’s this “heat” build up in our body that sends the message to our brain to produce more energy. The more energy demand the more heat produced. It’s the energy demand which depletes our precious bio-energy.

This heat factor rises to an excessive level that “wears us out” physically and mentally. Every to do list and every concerned thought adds emotional fatigue “more stress” than the human body can handle. Do to the over stimulation of our mental or physical activities create excessive “heat”, which breaks down our health in so many different ways. And as this adds up over time, to put it plainly, we just don’t feel so good… Can Cool “Chi” energy be the answer to reduce and eliminate excessive “heat” to heal our mind and body? Can we wake up feeling good and stay cool minded as we move through our busy days… Yes, we can learn to maintain a cool temperature that relaxes & heals the body and mind. Please just read on and find out…

First, “What is Chi or Bio-Energy?”

Chi Energy Heals Instructor Don Brown cites: “Although surrounded by ancient mysticism, chi is that which Western scientists have called the Quantum field. The theories are markedly similar when compared side-by-side. Each [Chinese Mysticism and Quantum Mechanics (1)] speaks of an energy field made up of tiny particles that comprise everything, and move through everything. Looking at it from a scientific point of view, the shroud of mystery is removed and an objective, scientific perspective remains.

With the understanding that chi, synonymous with quantum particles, makes up everything and moves through every object, it logically extends that human beings are also made up of these small particles and as both camps postulate, this energy moves through everything. In the movie, the “Matrix”, it is proposed that: “The human body generates more bio-electricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25,000 BTU’s of body heat”(2). This is a form of energy. ““According to the Center for Space Power and Advanced Electronics, a NASA commercial center in Alabama, the human body is capable of producing 11,000 watt hours. Broken into usable terms, waiting to be harvested are 81 watts from a sleeping person, 128 from a soldier standing at ease, 163 from a walking person, 407 from a briskly walking person, 1,048 from a long distant runner, and 1,630 from a sprinter, according to the center””.(3) Heated temperatures & Cool Chi To aid in understanding heat & cool Chi or bio-energy on a personal level: Let’s say when you are “hot under the collar” or perhaps experiencing intense thoughts, concerns and\or fearful emotions, it is at that time that your body releases of a flood of fight and flight hormones.

This release of hormones, creates a high demand for more energy because of the increased stress on the body. If “left unmanaged” — Heat builds up. This is the buildup that breaks down the body and mind and leads to many different types of illness and disease. Over time we just get accustomed to or ignore the little warning signs of fatigue and frustration from our multitasking & “always on the go” activity. After “being in our heads” all day, we can sometimes forget how to think straight or make a choice about dinner — .

You see our brains really never stop producing heat. And when we push out of our comfort zone the nervous system sends a message for more energy. Accordingly the mind and body and feeds the demand to produce more energy. If we never relax down then brain keeps the fire burning till the mind & body is mentally and physically exhausted. We need to give ourselves the time to learn to relax and get our joy back with a cool bio-energy for body and mind.

Here is way to feel the immediate benefits of cool chi energy

1. Go to the freezer take out a least two ice packs

2. Wrap them in kitchen towels

3. Put one curled up on the back nape of your neck & head

4. Put the other one on your chest area

5. Relax down and read more about how “Cool Chi Heals” You start to feel relaxed and cooled down after applying the cool packs, while experiencing a calm alertness.

This results because you have released daily excess heat and lowered your heart rate and blood pressure. You may have even thought you were already relaxed however by just using this physical cool method you relax even deeper. Relaxation is the key to using bio-energy for healing. This is an alternative method that has immense benefits to the mind and body’s health and longevity. Nice and Cool… Now to handle daily heat build up from stress, learn to simply “cool down”. By cooling your bio electrical system you’re adding years to your life! By cooling down the body, the mind understands the routine of taking a time out for relaxation. You’ll actually go out of your way and remember to use the “icepacks”. It’s the cause and effect of being able to shift into a good and cool feeling that is so desirable, producing great effects for your health simply because you cooled down…

At the School of Chi Energy Heals we teach how to maintain emotional stability “on command” using a cool bio-energy. To accomplish this we’ve developed a “Tri-concept” method. It’s the artful skill in combining “Three Qualities”.

The first two are “a good feeling and a cool temperature. Last and most important quality is learning to build the presence of an “Energy Form” while maintaining a good feeling & cool – mind & body. This is a step by step process…. Energy healing skills are taught based on two important and specific attributes blended into bio-energy chi exercises. It’s the good feeling & cool temperature blend that cools the “Chi” that is naturally “heated bio-energy”. When the body’s endocrine system responds to cooling down it releases serotonin, cortisol and other hormones that are anti-inflammatory. And the body continues to release cool pheromones, which activate Natural Killer cells that keep the immune system in optimal balance. The chi energy exercises are simple and easy to learn low impact aerobic exercises that build high levels of bio-energy in your body’s nerve fiber system.

You’ll learn step by step how to feel the temperature, emotional content and pressure and density of this electromagnetic bio-energy. Through training you become sensitive and physically feel the energy while learning to create highly specialized healing forms that are very easy to learn. Best of all, you’ll be able to use your bio-energy healing forms to command emotional stability with a good feeling and cool energy to heal the body & mind, at any time. Being able to heal yourself and others at the cellular level with a good feeling and cool bio-energy is a gift of health that keeps giving back. And it answers the question “Can Cool chi energy heal?”… Just ask yourself how you feel right now — after using the 4 steps to cooling your body and mind.

Instructor Don Brown’s interpretation of our cool chi method: “The idea of keeping my energy “cool” was an abstract concept that was particularly difficult to grasp. At the time, I had not realized that chi/electromagnetic energies have physical temperatures; nor did I realize the cause and effect relationship between “hot” chi and the physical manifestations of strained muscles, internal discomforts, and disruptive energies exacerbating interpersonal relationships.”(4) Below is just one more excellent example of how the body and mind can relax with a cool and good feeling virtual world to manage pain instead of depending on pharmaceutical drugs.

Virtual-Reality Video Game To Help Burn Patients Play Their Way To Pain Relief — Science Daily (Mar. 22, 2008) “To a patient recovering from severe burns, no place would be more soothing than a polar landscape of gently falling snowflakes, snowmen, penguins, igloos and icy rivers. The Snow World software was designed by Hunter G. Hoffman, Ph.D., and David Patterson, Ph.D., research scientists in Seattle, who were both motivated by their concern for the pain, fear and anxiety that children and teenagers experience when undergoing therapy for burn injuries.” The virtual-reality system eases pain of treatment by immersing burn patients in a wintry, computer-generated environment.

Its interactive, multi-sensory, features put patients in a deep freeze of distraction, leaving less attention for the processing of incoming pain signals. It’s similar to what has been done with music, movies and even two-dimensional video games, but more effective because it involves problem-solving activities that emphasize coolness.”(5)

In Conclusion, We believe this cool chi energy does heal. And it was our desire to unravel some of the mystery to relaxing and cooling down with bio-energy. We hope you continue to use the five steps to cool down in this article on a daily basis till a “cool nature” becomes a second nature. You’ll enjoy the relaxation.

Chi Energy and Conventional Wisdom

Chi Energy and Conventional Wisdom

“Men of my age flock together; we are birds of a feather, as the old proverb says. “- Plato’s Republic.

A recent article in Wired magazine sparked a thought that resounded not only with the aforementioned proverb, but also with some of the wise council provided by Sifu Jones: training partners and the sense of “community” is important when undergoing Chi Energy training [specifically] and the esoteric journey [in general].

The concept of the “community” has evolved with technological advances.  No longer limited by distance, family and friends are able to stay connected via a plethora of networking capabilities: telephone; email; web-cams; etceteras.  Even virtual environments that form social networks provide a means of maintaining current and cultivating new relationships.  Opportunities to befriend a friend’s friend are simply a “click” away.  Regardless, however, of the nature of the relationships, up close and personal or electronic, the axiom holds true: “Birds of a feather flock together”.

“The Buddy System: How Medical Data Revealed Secret to Health and Happiness”, written by Jonah Lehrer and published in Wired documents relates the findings of Nicholas Christakis (Harvard social scientist) and James Fowler (UC San Diego political scientist).  http://www.wired.com/medtech/health/magazine/17-10/ff_christakis?currentPage=all

Based upon research regarding a Framingham, Massachusetts community in 1948 that included parents, children, friends and friends of friends, the extrapolated data was jaw dropping.

Via the precision of statistical analysis and rigor, Christakis and Fowler noted some very interesting things about the Framingham, Massachusetts community that speak volumes to our everyday lives and choices we make.  For example: “In the early '70s, 65 percent of Framingham residents ages 40 to 49 smoked regularly. By 2001, only 22 percent consumed one or more cigarettes daily. But the smoke didn't clear at random: Friends and family had a decisive influence.”

http://www.wired.com/medtech/health/magazine/17-10/ff_christakis?currentPage=all

Fowler noted, concerning smoking, "People quit together, or they didn't quit at all."

This buddy system of sorts carries with it significant “weight”.  The study also showed, with conclusive evidence, “If one person became obese, the likelihood that his friend would follow suit increased by 171 percent.”

In essence, the data uncovered and analysis performed confirmed a truth my mother expressed to me during my childhood that Sifu Jones later hinted at for students in the School of Chi Energy: we either are, or become, the company we keep.

Anyone engaged in esoteric practices and meditative efforts knows this to be a lonely journey.  However, regardless of the end-goal, our day-to-day lives are filled with interactions and varying degrees of intimacy and relationships with individuals who may or may not have similar interests and habits.  The research performed by Christakis and Fowler should cause each of us to take a moment to pause and reflect on our lives and the people with whom we associate:

·        Are we affiliated with people who are positive?

·        Are our closest friends’ sources of encouragement?

·        Do our actions and words match?

·        Are the members of our individual networks orchestrated in such a way that we make beautiful music or a discordant and meaningless mixture of sounds?

This is not to say that we should disassociate from coworkers who are not engaged in Chi Energy.  Nor should refuse to eat lunch with friends who may be overweight, but we should, at the very least, be aware of these factors; we may, more importantly, act agents of change, should we find discrepancies within the lives of our friends and loved ones.

Fortunately, the School of Chi Energy offers an Instructor’s forum where you can find support, positive words of encouragement and advice regarding the journey.  The School of Chi training systems provide students with opportunities to fellowship and interact with other “like minded” men and woman at similar stages of their journey.  Via conference calls, recorded Q & A sessions moderated by Sifu Jones and Sifu Cicero with students and certified instructors alike; we surround ourselves with a network of like-minded individuals, encouraging one another to fly higher and further.

Energy Healers need to know about BioPhotons…

Recently, Sifu Cindy Cicero did that which many of us engaged in chi training would love to do: Sifu Cicero was able to have her bio electromagnetic energy [chi] measured via a well-documented and innovative technique.  With an open mind and lighthearted spirit, Sifu Cicero allowed the scientists at the Rhine Research Center, located on the beautiful campus of Duke University, to measure her electromagnetic output.

The text that follows introduces the Rhine Research Center and serves as a backdrop to the experiment in which Sifu Cicero participated and; provides multiple layers of detail describing electromagnetic energy and the biophotonic nature of the human being.

The mp3 explains about BioPhotons and The Rhine Experiment.  The significance to the Professional Energy Healer will be evident.

The Rhine Research Center

Established in 1927, the Rhine Research Center was Duke University’s laboratory focused on the investigation of psychic phenomena.  In fact, the Rhine Research Center gave birth to the well-known Zener [ESP] cards, and helped pave the way for the rigorous field of scientific study we now call parapsychology.

Although their mission statement has broadened somewhat over the years, the Rhine center, now a standalone complex, is better poised to investigate the study of “human consciousness – its reach, its reality, its durability, its healing capacity, and its spiritual dimension”.  This mission statement dovetails perfectly into the practice and charter of The International Online School of Bio-Energy Training.

Bio-Emissions Lab Experiment

As previously mentioned, Sifu Cindy Cicero had the unique and privileged opportunity to have her bio electromagnetic energy measured by the scientists at the Rhine Research Center.  In truth, the privilege is ours, as Sifu Cicero provided us with a video of the experiment as well as a first person account of her experience here: Bio-Emissions Lab Experiment.

At this juncture we will turn our attention away from the experiment and the term “biophoton”, and look to the more widely understood term “photon”.  After gaining an understanding of the nature and behavior of the photon, we will return to Sifu Cicero’s experience at the Rhine Research Center.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

Maxwell introduced the concept of electromagnetic waves in 1865 via his groundbreaking paper “A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field”.  It was here that Maxwell established that electric and magnetic fields travel through space in the form of waves, and that light is an electromagnetic phenomenon as well.

Light waves, identified through their wavelengths and frequency, come in many flavors.

According to How Stuff Works:

“The size of a wave is measured as its wavelength, which is the distance between any two corresponding points on successive waves, usually peak to peak or trough to trough. The wavelengths of the light we can see range from 400 to 700 nanometers (or billionths of a meter). But the full range of wavelengths included in the definition of electromagnetic radiation extends from 0.1 nanometers, as in gamma rays, to centimeters and meters, as in radio waves.”

Furthermore:

“The frequency is the number of waves that pass a point in space during any time interval, usually one second. We measure it in units of cycles (waves) per second, or hertz. The frequency of visible light is referred to as color, and ranges from 430 trillion hertz, seen as red, to 750 trillion hertz, seen as violet.”

Please take special note of the information regarding “wavelength” and “frequency”; these concepts play an integral part in the Rhine Research Center experiment where Sifu Cicero raised the bar and demonstrated what sets The International Online School of Bio-Energy Training apart from all others.

This is important because, energy – especially electromagnetic energy, is measurable.

The relationship between the energy in an electromagnetic wave is proportional to its frequency:

·         High frequency electromagnetic waves have high energy

·         Low frequency electromagnetic waves have low energy

Figure 1 Light Frequencies

As per Figure 1, we can see that the shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency, and thus, the higher the energy of the electromagnetic wave.

Unfortunately, scaling in Figure 1 is inaccurate.  In fact, “visible light occupies only one-thousandth of a percent of the spectrum”.

Figure 2 “The Electromagnetic Spectrum” provides a better visualization between the length of an electromagnetic wave in comparison to objects with which we are generally familiar.

Worthy of note in Figure 2 is the inclusion of “temperature” in relation to wavelength.  This too is very important to the Rhine Research Center experiment for reasons discussed later in this discourse; furthermore, the concept of temperature, including sensitivity and control of, is a foundational cornerstone of The International Online School of Bio-Energy Training.  The article “Chi Energy and Temperature of Light” provides well documented research into this abstract concept.

Figure 2 The Electromagnetic Spectrum

Here we can see that, like Figure 1, Gamma rays have the highest levels of electromagnetic energy.  Generally speaking, Gamma rays are extremely dangerous to humans, and most animal life forms; however, when focused, Gamma rays have the ability to save lives.  Gamma-knife radiosurgery is a noninvasive type of surgery used to treat brain tumors.  According to the Mayo Clinic:

“The precision of gamma-knife radiosurgery results in minimal damage to healthy tissues surrounding the target and, in some cases, a lower risk of side effects compared with other types of radiation therapy. Also, gamma-knife radiosurgery is often a safer option than is traditional brain surgery. Gamma-knife radiosurgery is usually a one-time therapy completed in a single day.”

Awareness of the gamma knife is very important.  Although many people training in traditional chi gung programs never reach this level of energy development and projection, Sifu Cicero’s experience at the Rhine Research Center makes it clear that it is not only within reason, but expected that practitioners following the training curriculum of The International Online School of Bio-Energy Training will find themselves at this echelon of energy cultivation.

[For students already engaged in this methodology, you should get a better appreciation for the safeguards built into the system, designed to keep you from causing harm to yourself and to others while developing your burgeoning abilities.]

At this point in the discussion, it would behoove us to take a momentary pause, as we have covered quite a bit of information.  Although it may not be readily apparent, rest assured that everything presented prior to now forms an intellectual building block for the topics to follow, leading up to the apex of this discourse: human beings not only give off light in the form of biophotons, but are, in fact, at the most rudimentary level, made up of light itself.

Atomic Structure

The term “atomic” is synonymous with immense power and the potential of danger: from nuclear power plants to atomic weapons, harvesting the energetic properties of the atom is a scientific goal since the discovery of the atom.

Returning to Figure 2, we see that atoms are small, very small, and reside in the range of the X-ray wavelength.  Just to the right of the atom is the “atomic nuclei”, which is even smaller, and has a higher level of [potential] energy.

Whereas we all know that atoms are key building blocks of all matter in the Universe, it is good to take a moment and refresh our memories regarding the atom’s internal structure, as this plays directly into the topic at hand.

The American Nuclear Society provides a great amount of information regarding the properties and behavior of atoms.  According to the ANS, atoms consist of “protons (with a positive electrical charge), electrons (with a negative electrical charge), and neutrons (with no electrical charge)”.

Protons and neutrons gather in a dense cluster, called the nucleus, while electrons orbit the nucleus much like weather satellites orbit the Earth.  Here is where things get interesting.

Electrons are quirky characters.  Contrary to popular belief, electrons do not float about as if a mist or cloud around the nucleus.  Like many of us who have a favorite chair or a preferred cereal bowl, electrons have preferred orbit; a lane, so to speak, where each electron travels in groupings: two; six; 10 and; 14.

The nature of, or simply the fact of the electron orbital, is the critical component in this discourse.  Although there are many ways to produce photons, each mechanism revolves around the same concept: an electron, when energized, leaves its natural orbit and occupies a higher than normal orbital sub shell.  The electron, seeking normalcy, sheds the extra energy, falling back to its normal, lower orbit.  The shed energy is a photon.  Figure 3 provides and excellent graphic describing this process.

Furthermore, according to the atom/element, each photon emitted has the characteristic of the specific wavelength of electromagnetic energy; this is to say that the photon has the corresponding color and frequency that matches the distance the electron falls.

Figure 3 Birth of a Photon

The website How Stuff Works provides an easily recognizable example of photon emission in everyday life: fluorescent lamps.

“These forms of lighting pass an electric current through a gas to make the gas emit light. The colors of gas-discharge lamps vary widely depending on the identity of the gas and the construction of the lamp.”

This is to say, the photon produced by the energized electron falling back to its regular orbit coincides with a specific wavelength.  The photon’s color is a direct correlation to its energy; this is the photon’s wavelength in the EM spectrum [Figures 1 & 2] and thus, the color of visible light.

What is truly remarkable is this: it turns out that humans also produce light.  This intercellular luminescence is termed: biophontics.

Biophotons

While studying chemicals in an attempt to gain a better understanding of causes of cancer, a German theoretical biophysicist by the name of Fritz-Albert Popp, stumbled upon something so groundbreaking that over 300 years later, scientists are still trying to uncover the depth and potential of its meaning.

Fritz-Albert Popp discovered that the human body emits light.

He coined the phrase “biophoton” to describe this phenomenon: Biophotons are weaklight emitted by photons within the cells of our bodies.

The role the biophoton plays is multifaceted.  Experimental data confirms that biophotons transmit information.  Popp’s research and initial speculations on biophotons is the focus of rigorous scientific studies today; multiple journals and institutes pledge their mission to demonstrate that biophotons are integral to health, and the absence [or healing] of illness.  Jule Klotter’s article “Light Cancer and Popp” offers details regarding Popp’s initial research and findings in this field.

The Biophotonics Research Institute provides an excellent article shedding light on this emerging science.  In accordance with Popp’s research, Elizabeth Bauer writes:

“The biophoton phenomenon is not confined to "thermal" radiation in the infrared range. It is well known that biophotons are emitted also in the range from visible up to the UV ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. The intensity of biophotons can be registered from a few photons per second in a square centimeter surface area to several hundred photons per second in a square centimeter from every living system.”

This ties directly into Sifu Cicero’s experience at the Rhine Research Center.  Using very sensitive equipment in a controlled environment, including a photo multiplier tube and an EMI Shielded Room, the scientists at the Rhine Research Center counted the numbers of biophotons emitted by Sifu Cicero as well as their wavelength/frequency.

As per the “Bio-emissions Lab Experiment” video and Sifu Cicero’s first person account, the scientists performing the experiment were markedly impressed with Sifu Cicero’s ability to raise, lower, and raise again her energy projections.  In fact, Sifu Cicero is now the fifth person in 30 years with over thousands of men and women performing this experiment, to reach the energy levels of the Ultraviolet frequencies.

Looking back to Figure 2, it is clear why the scientists were so very impressed.  The Ultraviolet frequency/wavelength is not only very high in energy, but also incredibly hot.  Sifu Cicero’s ability to raise her energy, at will, on demand and on command, to such a high level is impressive in and of itself.  What raises the bar, is that at the same time, Sifu Cicero was able keep herself physically cool while projecting her energy within the Ultraviolet range; mindboggling indeed.  Of course, students of The International Online School of Bio-Energy Training engage in a methodology and curriculum architected in such a way that Sifu Cicero’s results are the norm, not the exception.

Human beings: Beings of Light

In his epic masterpiece “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”, visionary George Lucas’ character Master Yoda spoke these words not to a young Luke Skywalker, but to all of us the world over: “Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.”

Fritz-Albert Popp’s research, presented herein, confirms this startling truth.  Yes, we are children born of light.

As you continue your journey, take time to reflect on the concepts highlighted in this discourse, as well as the various articles referenced.

Decide for yourself what this means to you and for you.  We are no longer bound to the mundane.  We are so much more than we knew – and finding out and more each and every day.

Enjoy the journey; be well; be mindful.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields:

How They Heal

Having healthy cells is not a passive process. Active, regular tuning-up of our cells is not only feasible, but also necessary to slow aging and reduce the risk of cell dysfunction. We are, after all, only as healthy as our cells. Imperceptible cell dysfunction that is not corrected early can lead to disease. Fine-tuning can be done daily in only minutes, using pulsed electromagnetic fields
(PEMFs).

In addition, when there is a known imbalance (when symptoms are present) or there is a known disease or condition, PEMF treatments, used either alone or along with other therapies, can often help cells rebalance dysfunction faster.

PEMFs work to:

  1. Reduce pain, inflammation, the effects of stress on the body, and platelet adhesion.
  2. Improve energy, circulation, blood and tissue oxygenation, sleep quality, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, the uptake of    nutrients, cellular detoxification and the ability to regenerate cells.
  3. Balance the immune system and stimulate RNA and DNA.
  4. Accelerate repair of bone and soft tissue.
  5. Relax muscles.

PEMFs have been used extensively for decades for many conditions and medical disciplines, and results can be seen in animals as well as humans. The National Institutes of Health have made PEMFs a priority for research. In fact, many PEMF devices have already been approved by the FDA, some specifically to fuse broken bones, wound healing, pain and tissue swelling, and treat
depression. Most therapeutic PEMF devices are considered safe by various standards and organizations.

What are PEMFs and how do they work?

Science teaches us that everything is energy. Energy is always dynamic and, therefore, has a frequency; it changes by the second or minute, for example, at the very least. All energy is electromagnetic in nature. All atoms, chemicals and cells produce electromagnetic
fields (EMFs). Every organ in the body produces it own signature bioelectromagnetic field. Science has proven that our bodies actually project their own magnetic fields and that all 70 trillion cells in the body communicate via electromagnetic frequencies. Nothing happens in the body without an electromagnetic exchange. When the electromagnetic activity of the body
ceases, life ceases.

Physics, that is, electromagnetic energy, controls chemistry. This in turn controls tissue function.
Disruption of electromagnetic energy in cells causes impaired cell metabolism, whatever the
initial cause. This happens anywhere in the disease process. PEMFs address impaired chemistry and thus the function of cells – which in turn, improves health. PEMFs deliver beneficial, health-enhancing EMFs and frequencies to the cells. Low
frequency PEMFs of even the weakest strengths pass right through the body, penetrating every cell, tissue, organ and even bone without being absorbed or altered! As they pass through, they stimulate most of the electrical and chemical processes in the tissues. Therapeutic PEMFs are specifically designed to positively support cellular energy, resulting in better cellular health and
function.

Devices that produce PEMFs vary by a number of important features: frequency, waveform, strength, and types of stimulators. Frequencies can be simple or complex; and high, medium or low. Intensity can also be high, medium or low.
No “one-size” treatment fits all situations. Most PEMF devices help to varying degrees depending on the problem or condition, but selecting the wrong device may produce unsatisfactory results. Since the body is complex, PEMFs are ideal devices to be able get good results without needing a myriad of different treatments.

Aren’t some EMFs bad for you?

They can be. Evidence is mounting that a new form of pollution called “electrosmog” is a very real threat because it is disruptive to cell metabolism. Manmade, unnatural EMFs come from electrical wiring and equipment, for example, power lines, communications towers, computers, TVs, cell phones – everything from the wiring in our homes to fluorescent lighting to microwave
ovens, hair dryers, clock radios, electric blankets and more.  Electrosmog EMFs are not designed with the body in mind. They can be a strong inducer of stress in the body and, therefore, drain our energy. Electrosmog includes “dirty” electricity, ground currents, microwaves and radio waves. Microwaves are not only from leaky microwave ovens, but also from cell towers, cell phones and wireless equipment.

Electrosmog is all around us and can only be partially blocked. One of the best solutions is to take measures to decrease your exposure. With therapeutic PEMFs, one can purposely add beneficial balancing frequencies to the body to decrease the burden of the negative effects of electrosmog.

PEMFs and Magnets: What’s the difference?

PEMFs are frequency-based, applied to either the whole body or parts of the body. PEMFs may only be needed for short periods of time, while the effects last for many hours, setting in motion cellular and whole-body changes to restore and maintain balance in metabolism and health. The body does not acclimate, or “get used to,” the healthy energy signals of therapeutic PEMFs, even
if used for a long time, compared to magnets.

Stationary (or “static”), non-varying, magnetic fields from magnets have fixed strengths. They are used in mattresses, bracelets, knee wraps and the like. Most have very shallow penetration into the body, resulting in a very limited ability to affect deeper tissues, and they rarely treat all the cells of the body simultaneously. Only skilled practitioners may guide you to get the best
results from these approaches.

Experience with PEMFs

There are quite a number of PEMF systems available now in the US, for daily in-home use, that can help meet your unique needs. Some are FDA-approved and many more are available over-the counter or from various experienced practitioners. Some whole-body systems have been available in the US for over a decade and have been used in Europe by tens of thousands of people for a wide variety of problems without significant negative effects for over 20 years. One PEMF system has been studied through NIH-supported research at the University of Virginia for Rheumatoid Arthritis. These whole body systems have been used worldwide, not only by healthconscious individuals for health improvement and maintenance, but also by world-class and Olympic athletes for increased endurance, enhanced performance, and faster recovery.

What kind of doctor can help me with PEMFs?

Unfortunately, very few conventional, and even alternative or holistic, doctors know about these devices or this technological area. This is not a subject of mandatory education for doctors. Doctors often learn about these new technologies long after the public does, as has been seen with acupuncture. The process of educating doctors and other non-medical practitioners is
growing all the time but will take years. Be patient and look for practitioners who have expertise in the area of PEMF therapies.

Physicists extract light from seeming emptiness

Physicists in Sweden say they have managed to create light from vacuum, the closest thing to empty space known to exist.

In findings published this week in the research journal Nature, the scientists said they verified an effect predicted over 40 years ago by capturing some of the particles of light, or photons, that constantly appear and disappear in the vacuum.

The uncertainty principle ensures that the vacuum teems with various subatomic particles that flit in and out of existence. They appear for an instant and disappear again, the energy fueling their existence “borrowed” from the void. Since their life is so fleeting, they are called virtual particles.

In the new work, Christopher Wilson and colleagues at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden said they coaxed photons into leaving their “virtual” state and becoming real photons—measurable light. The physicist Gerald Moore predicted in 1970 that this should happen if virtual photons bounce off a mirror moving at nearly the speed of light, in a phenomenon called the dynamical Casimir effect.

“Since it’s not possible to get a mirror to move fast enough, we’ve developed another method for achieving the same effect,” said Per Delsing, a physicist at Chalmers. “Instead of varying the physical distance to a mirror, we’ve varied the electrical distance to an electrical short circuit that acts as a mirror for microwaves.” The “mirror” consists of a device called a SQUID or superconducting quantum interference device, which is extremely sensitive to magnetic fields. By changing the direction of a magnetic field several billions of times a second the scientists said they made the “mirror” vibrate at one-fourth the speed of light.

“The result was that photons appeared in pairs from the vacuum, which we were able to measure in the form of microwave radiation,” said Delsing. “We were also able to establish that the radiation had precisely the same properties that quantum theory said it should have when photons appear in pairs in this way.” Quantum theory is the science of extremely small particles.

During the experiment, Delsing said, the “mirror” transferred some of its energy of motion to virtual photons so they could materialize. Göran Johansson, another physicist at Chalmers, said other particles might also be extracted from a vacuum in principle, but photons are easier. That’s because the equivalence of energy and mass, discovered by Einstein, implies that photons—being weightless—can be stimulated “out of their virtual state” with relatively little energy. Obtaining chunkier particles, such as electrons or protons, which make up atoms, “would require a lot more,” he added.

The scientists said the photons that appear in pairs in the experiment may be useful in the research field of quantum information, which includes the development of superfast “quantum” computers. But the main value of the work, they said, is that it aids our understanding of basic physical concepts, such as vacuum fluctuations. Some scientists believe these may have a connection with “dark energy” which drives the accelerating expansion of the universe, a discovery itself recognized this year with a Nobel Prize in physics.

How can Bio-Energy be measured?

This article and video is about my visit to the Rhine Center’s Bio-Emissions Lab in Durham, NC.  The recent invitation to the Center was extended by Executive Director John Kruth and Bill Joines who is the primary researcher and designer of this 30 year bio-energy research experiment.

The experiment will measure bio-emissions or bio-photons that come from the human body. There are electromagnetic fields in and around the body that communicate through a light source of bio-energy called bio-photons.

During the last thirty years the Rhine Center’s Bio-Emissions experiment measures for charge accumulation and electromagnetic bio-emissions. These measurements are being used to study bio-energy healers, meditators and people who claim unusual effects on electrical equipment.

Chi Energy Instructor measures at High Levels

The equipment used to measure bio-emissions are several special devices. The thermoelectric cooler is used to cool the photomultiplier tube to negative 26 degrees centigrade.  This is done to reduce interference from the electrical devices.. The baseline is taken for each individual before they begin their healing, meditation, or energy work.  The photomultiplier tube actually measures the increase in photon emissions from the baseline for the individual being tested. Then it is the photomultiplier tube that measures biophotons. When one photon of light strikes this sensitive surface it dislodges several other electrons. The dislodged electrons accelerate striking many more electrons that cause a change reaction event.

According to Wikipedia: “A bio photon (from the Greek βιο meaning "life" and φωτο meaning "light"), synonymous with ultra weak photon emission, low-level biological chemiluminescence, ultra weak bioluminescence, dark luminescence and other similar terms, is a photon of light emitted from a biological system and detected by biological probes as part of the general weak electromagnetic radiation of living biological cells. ”

Sifu Cindy Cicero is the Director and Instructor for the School of Chi Energy who participated in this Rhine Center experiment. There are four individuals that have measured high amounts of biophotons in the ultraviolet range.

The video results show that she is now the “fifth” unique individual with an unusual amount of bio-photon emission that they’ve been able to measure in the last 30 years.

The reason I feel I did so well on the test is that I built up my body's nerve fibers using specially designed energy exercises. In the The School of Chi Energy a chi student is trained to build up the nerve fibers allowing for a stronger projection of bio-energy. When information contained in bio-photons are built up in high levels, your ability to control the hormonal flow of your body and other extreme psi abilities will be possible.

Bio-Photonics has been around awhile according to Mind Science News article: “Biophotons: DNA Radiance of Health or Disease http://youtu.be/2STCpAJtSRw

Professor Fritz-Albert Popp of International Institute of Biophysics (Biophotonics) in Germany has conducted research that confirms the existence of biophotons. Biophotons are weaklight emitted by photons within the cells of our bodies. All cells emit light. Professor Popp says, “we are swimming in an ocean of light…” His research shows that DNA from living cells hold and release photons producing “biophotonic emissions” that radiate throughout the cellular network.

These biophotonic emissions of light have no mass, and they seem to be responsible for transmitting information inside of individual cells as well as radiating that information to other cells. These emissions may hold a key to our understanding of disease and wellness.”

It is the significant value of these types of bio-photon experiments that demonstrate those with unusually high emissions have a great influence (degree of change) over the physical reality of body and mind.

Chi and Somatic Awareness

Posted by admin On September - 16 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

The School of Chi Energy

The field of Somatic Awareness is both deep and wide: each topic of interest and nuance goes deeper and deeper into research, theorems and [consequentially] more information found in a plethora of books.

Here, we will take a look at Somatic Awareness from a very specific perspective: somatic awareness and chi.

Somatic Awareness Defined:

Merriam-Webster defines “somatic” as follows: “of, relating to, or affecting the body… as distinguished from the viscera”.
The term “viscera” is of great importance in understanding the nature of what is called somatic, as the very meaning and play of this word build into the “awareness” thereof.

Again, going back to Merriam-Webster, we find that “viscera” is equivalent to all of the eternal organs located in the “great cavity of the trunk proper”, with regards to human anatomy.

Furthermore, the term “visceral” speaks directly to: elemental emotions.

In effect, the body is aware; and should be able to communicate its various [nutrition; rest; therapeutic] needs on a very basic, emotional level.

The awareness of this communication, the ability to perceive and understand this process of communicating with one’s own body [with a specific purpose/message] is the overarching goal of Somatic Awareness.

This theme has been propagated throughout time in as many cultures.  In Issai Chozanshi’s treatise of the martial arts, he quotes the Confucian sage’s somatic understanding of the truth of the self: “The scriptures are within yourself; [those that are written down] only point out what you have not been able to see on your own”.

The instruction we provide will help you get greater insight into your own personal truth, both physically and figuratively.

Somatic Awareness and Chi:

Chi, as defined by Eastern mystics, is synonymous with that which Western scientists have called the Quantum Field.  The theories are markedly similar when compared side-by-side.  Each [Eastern Mysticism and Quantum Mechanics] speaks of an energy field made up of tiny particles that comprise everything, and move through everything.

Somatically speaking, Eastern mystics have been investigating the “inner space” of the mind/body relationship whereas their Western counterparts have delved into the “outer space” of formally investigating and documenting that which is often perceived yet not specifically understood [as to why such is the case]; hence the relevance of Issai Chozanshi’s quote in the previous section.

Using scientific jargon, the phenomenon of somatic awareness is achieved thru: “bioentanglement- quantum connections within and among living systems” (Entangled Minds, Dean Radin).

Information transmitted on a quantum level, carried throughout space and time, is not only directly related to the functioning of the human nervous system, but also gives rise to more “esoteric” abilities beyond simply wiggling one’s finger: psi-related abilities and a thorough understanding of the physical and psychological “self” are among them.

Somatic Awareness and Chi Development:

We have found “somatic awareness” to be a natural and appreciated by-product of chi training and chi development.

With increased sensitivity to chi energy, greater sensitivity to the messages from our bodies and our surroundings are achieved; the information transmitted on the quantum level through “bioentanglement” can be easily received and deciphered on an emotional level with little to no internal, conscious “analysis”: the difference between “thinking” and “knowing” will be made apparent.

Chi Energy and Temperature of Light

Posted by admin On September - 16 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

School of Chi Energy

Article by certified Instructor Sifu Don Brown

As odd as it may seem, the temperature of light is not fixed; in fact, it is possible to freeze light.  The usefulness of this discovery did not go unnoticed in the scientific and manufacturing communities.  As stated in the article “Physicists freeze light, propose optical CPUs”, the ability to lower the temperature of light makes quantum computing that much more feasible as well as practical.

What I find most interesting in this revelation is that it coincides with energy cultivation concepts taught by Sifu Jones for years prior to this technological breakthrough.

The idea of keeping my energy “cool” was an abstract concept that was particularly difficult to grasp.  At the time, I had not realized that chi/electromagnetic energies have physical temperatures; nor did I realize the cause and effect relationship between “hot” chi and the physical manifestations of strained muscles, internal discomforts, and disruptive energies exacerbating interpersonal relationships.  Furthermore, it was beyond my understanding that the human mind is capable of manipulating the temperature of objects, especially electromagnetic phenomena.  With Sifu’s prompting and patient tutelage, I gradually came to know the truth expressed in the recent scientific discoveries via the use of my own mind.  Immediately, the abovementioned negative side effects of “hot” chi subsided.  The idea of lowering the temperature of the bio-electromagnetic energy I cultivate, however, was but the starting point.

Chi, electricity, and light are electromagnetic phenomena that are hot at default settings.  Through trial and error, we have all learned that, on some level, electricity burns.  Light, given off from distant stars and fires, carries heat; too much [sun] light can lead to medical ailments, from a simple sunburn to heat strokes and more.  When cultivating this energy with and for the body, it behooves the practitioner to cool this energy, as the body will be more receptive to it and the generation thereof.

In the article “Virtual Reality Therapy” , [author ] Dr. Hunter Hoffman, who is the director of the Virtual Reality Analgesia Research Center at the University of Washington Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HITLab) in Seattle, makes some very profound discoveries that show the power of the human mind:

·    Functional magnetic resonance imaging shows that virtual reality actually reduces the amount of pain-related activity in the brain.  The same incoming pain signal can be interpreted as more or less painful depending on what the patient is thinking.

·  In addition to influencing the way patients interpret such signals, psychological factors can even influence the amount of pain signals allowed to enter the brain’s cortex.

·   We found a significant positive correlation between the potency of the illusion—how strongly the subjects felt they were immersed in the virtual world—and the alleviation of their pain.

Not only does the scientific data demonstrate Dr. Hoffman’s observation as truth, we instinctively know this from our real world experiences.

In the article, “Virtual-Reality Video Game To Help Burn Patients Play Their Way To Pain Relief”, Dr. Gamelli of the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood made t his [un] commonsense observation about Hoffman’s work:

“The theory is solid. Think of a toothache. During the day it’s less painful because you have more demands on your attention. However, when night comes and things quiet down, your pain can flair up because you have far less to focus on.”

For many of us engaging in the cultivation of chi energy, the ability to imagine/visualize without the aid of advanced technology falls pathetically short when compared to the sophisticated virtual reality systems in use by Dr. Hoffman and his colleagues.  With continued practice, things improve.  So much so that, it is completely possible to not only change the temperature of the chi.

As noted in other articles, the human brain is amazingly plastic; it morphs to better perform that which we tell it is important.  The same is true here.  Thru daily efforts in visualization techniques within this energy cultivation method, the brain repeatedly receives instructions as to what is important and as such, complies.  The ability to visualize becomes second nature, and thru this ability, not only can the temperature of energy be changed, but a myriad of attributes and instruction given to the energy: how it feels; how it performs; what it does; how it behaves; etcetera.

The ability to control chi to this level of detail is critical for successful upper level techniques, such as remote healing.  So that the practitioner has the ability to reproduce these techniques, on command and on demand with consistent results, this method integrates the concept of cooling the temperature of chi from the very beginning.  The building blocks to upper echelon abilities are encoded in every phase of this method and carefully laid out in the curriculum.

Biophotons are weak emissions of light radiated from the cells of all living things. A photon is a single particle of light. Plants, animals and humans generate up to 100 photons per second, per .15 square inches (1 sq. centimeter) of surface area. The light is too faint to be seen by the naked eye, but biophotons have been detected and verified using photomultiplier tubes.

According to a leading researcher of biophotons, German biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp, light is constantly being absorbed and remitted by DNA molecules within each cell's nucleus. These biophotons create a dynamic, coherent web of light. A system that could be responsible for chemical reactions within the cells, cellular communication throughout the organism, and the overall regulation of the biological system, including embryonic development into a predetermined form.

The laser-like coherence of the biophoton field is a significant attribute, making it a prime candidate for exchanging information in a highly functional, efficient and cooperative fashion, lending credence to the idea that it may be the intelligence factor behind the biological processes. An aspect of, or cousin to consciousness, though this remains speculative.

Biophoton emissions will vary according to the functional state of the organism. If a disease such as cancer affects certain cells they will radiate a different photonic signature than healthy cells of the same type. In this way biophotons can be a noninvasive tool for assessing the state of health or vitality. Applications can extend far into other areas like testing food and water quality, checking for chemical or electromagnetic contamination, or agricultural testing for products that improve crop resistance to disease. Biophysicists in many

European and Asian countries are currently engaged in such research. Proponents of alternative medicine see a possible connection between biophotons and natural healing techniques. For example acupuncture is based on manipulating or exciting "ch'i" energy — the vital life force that, according to ancient Chinese belief, regulates body function and is responsible for well-being. It is suggested that the meridians or energy points used by acupuncturists may tap into node lines within the biophoton field. It is further hypothesized that all living things might be connected together through dynamic biophoton fields.

A Russian scientist discovered bipohotons in 1923, dubbing them mitogenetic rays. Though Professor Alexander Gurvich's discovery sparked wide research, it wasn't until 1974 that Popp proved their existence, revealed their origin in DNA, and subsequently their coherence. Popp's biophoton theory provides an intriguing and promising path for more international research, which could lead to major developments in our understanding of life, the mechanisms of healing and health, and our interconnectedness with the world around us.

Though skeptics relegate much of this to pseudoscience, research may eventually shed light on biophotons for us all.

Chi Energy and Human Light Photons

Are humans really beings of light?

Dan Eden

I get lots of suggestions for stories, and I really appreciate them. But some of them are too good to be true. An example of this was a story of a giant human skeleton — maybe 40 feet tall — that was discovered by a Russian archaeological team. The story had photos and links accompanying it and looked promising. But when the links were researched they went in a circle. Each link used the other link as the source. Finally the elements of the photos turned up and we recognized a good Photoshop job had fooled everyone.

I had this same experience this week when I was sent an article where a Russian (again) scientist, Pjotr Garjajev, had managed to intercept communication from a DNA molecule in the form of ultraviolet photons — light! What's more, he claimed to have captured this communication from one organism (a frog embryo) with a laser beam and then transmitted it to another organisms DNA (a salamander embryo), causing the latter embryo to develop into a frog!

But this was just the beginning.

Dr. Garjajev claims that this communication is not something that happens only inside the individual cells or between one cell and another. He claims organisms use this "light" to "talk" to other organisms and suggested that this could explain telepathy and ESP. It was like human beings already had their own wireless internet based on our DNA. Wow!

I tried to find a scientific journal that had this experiment. All I could find were blogs and other websites that carried the same story, word for word, without any references. That is until I stumbled on the work of Fritz-Albert Popp [right]. Then everything I had just read seemed very plausible.

Fritz-Albert Popp thought he had discovered a cure for cancer. I'm not convinced that he didn't.

It was 1970, and Popp, a theoretical biophysicist at the University of Marburg in Germany, had been teaching radiology — the interaction of electromagnetic (EM) radiation on biological systems. Popp was too early to worry about things like cellphones and microwave towers which are now commonly linked with cancers and leukemia. His world was much smaller.

He'd been examining two almost identical molecules: benzo[a]pyrene, a polycyclic hydrocarbon known to be one of the most lethal carcinogens to humans, and its twin (save for a tiny alteration in its molecular makeup), benzo[e]pyrene. He had illuminated both molecules with ultraviolet (UV) light in an attempt to find exactly what made these two almost identical molecules so different.

Why Ultra-violet light?

Popp chose to work specifically with UV light because of the experiments of a Russian biologist named Alexander Gurwitsch who, while working with onions in 1923, discovered that roots could stimulate a neighboring plant's roots if the two adjacent plants were in quartz glass pots but not if they were in silicon glass pots. The only difference being that the silicon filtered UV wavelengths of light while the quartz did not. Gurwitsch theorized that onion roots could communicate with each other by ultraviolet light.

[Above] All vibrations of energy are part of the electro-magnetic spectrum. These include electrical energy, heat, sound, light, radio waves and radioactive waves. UV light is merely a small portion of the spectrum of EM energy with a very short wavelength.

What Popp discovered was that benzo[a]pyrene (the cancer producing molecule) absorbed the UV light, then re-emitted it at a completely different frequency — it was a light "scrambler". The benzo[e]pyrene (harmless to humans), allowed the UV light to pass through it unaltered.

Popp was puzzled by this difference, and continued to experiment with UV light and other compounds. He performed his test on 37 different chemicals, some cancer-causing, some not. After a while, he was able to predict which substances could cause cancer. In every instance, the compounds that were carcinogenic took the UV light, absorbed it and changed or scrambled the frequency.

There was another odd property of these compounds: each of the carcinogens reacted only to light at a specific frequency — 380 nm (nanometres) in the ultra-violet range. Popp kept wondering why a cancer-causing substance would be a light scrambler. He began reading the scientific literature specifically about human biological reactions, and came across information about a phenomenon called 'photorepair'.

Photorepair

It is well known from biological laboratory experiments that if you blast a cell with UV light so that 99 per cent of the cell, including its DNA, is destroyed, you can almost entirely repair the damage in a single day just by illuminating the cell with the same wavelength at a much weaker intensity. To this day, scientists don't understand this phenomenon, called photorepair, but no one has disputed it.

Popp also knew that patients with xeroderma pigmentosum [right] eventually die of skin cancer because their photorepair system can't repair solar damage. He was also struck by the fact that photorepair works most efficiently at 380 nm — the same frequency that the cancer-causing compounds react to and scramble.

This was where Popp made his logical leap. If the carcinogens only react to this frequency, it must somehow be linked to photorepair. If so, this would mean that there must be some kind of light in the body responsible for photorepair. A compound must cause cancer because it permanently blocks this light and scrambles it, so photorepair can't work anymore. It seemed logical, but was it true?

Light inside the body

Popp was freaked out by this. He wrote about it in a paper and a prestigious medical journal agreed to publish it.

Not long after that, Popp was approached by a student named Bernhard Ruth, who asked Popp to supervise his work for his doctoral dissertation. Popp told Ruth he was prepared to do so if the student could show that light was emanating from the human body.

This meeting was fortuitous for Popp because Ruth happened to be an excellent experimental physicist. Ruth thought the idea was ridiculous, and immediately set to work building equipment to prove Popp's hypothesis wrong.

Within two years, Ruth had constructed a machine resembling a big X-ray detector which used a photomultiplier to count light, photon by photon. Even today, it is still one of the best pieces of equipment in the field. The machine had to be highly sensitive because it had to measure what Popp assumed would be extremely weak emissions.

In an old documentary film taken in the laboratory at the International Institute of Biophysics, Dr. Popp opens a chamber about the size of a bread box. He places a fresh cutting from a plant and a wooden match in a plastic container inside the dark chamber and closed the light proof door. Immediately he switches on the photomultiplyer and the image shows up on a computer screen. The match stick is black while the green, glowing silhouette of the leaves is clearly visible.

Dr. Popp exclaims, "We now know, today, that man is essentially a being of light."

In 1976, they were ready for their first test with cucumber seedlings. The photomultiplier showed that photons, or light waves, of a surprisingly high intensity were being emitted from the seedlings. In case the light had to do with an effect of photosynthesis, they decided that their next test — with potatoes — would be to grow the seedling plants in the dark. This time, when the seedlings were placed in the photomultiplier, they registered an even higher intensity of light. What's more, the photons in the living systems they'd examined were more coherent than anything they'd ever seen.

Popp began thinking about light in nature. Light was present in plants and was used during photosynthesis. When we eat plant foods, he thought, it must be that we take up the photons and store them.

When we consume broccoli, for example, and digest it, it is metabolised into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water, plus the light stored from the sun and photosynthesis. We extract the CO2 and eliminate the water, but the light, an EM wave, must be stored. When taken in by the body, the energy of these photons dissipates and becomes distributed over the entire spectrum of EM frequencies, from the lowest to the highest.

This energy is the driving force for all the molecules in our body. Before any chemical reaction can occur, at least one electron must be activated by a photon with a certain wavelength and enough energy.

The biochemist and Nobel Prize winner Lehninger mentions in his textbook that some reactions in the living cell happen quite a lot faster than what corresponds to 37C temperature. The explanation seems to be that the body purposely directs chemical reactions by means of electromagnetic vibrations (biophotons).

Photons (Light) control everything in the cell

Photons switch on the body's processes like an orchestra conductor bringing each individual instrument into the collective sound. At different frequencies, they perform different functions. Popp found that molecules in the cells responded to certain frequencies, and that a range of vibrations from the photons caused a variety of frequencies in other molecules of the body.

This theory has been supported by Dr. Veljko Veljkovic who now heads the Center for Multidisciplinary Research and Engineering, Institute of Nuclear Sciences Vinca. She dared to ask the question that has forever puzzled cellular biologists: What is it that enabled the tens of thousands of different kinds of molecules in the organism to recognize their specific targets? Living processes depend on selective interactions between particular molecules, and that is true for basic metabolism to the subtlest nuances of emotion. It's like trying to find a friend in a very big very crowded ballroom in the dark.

The conventional picture of a cell even now is that of a bag of molecules dissolved in water. And through bumping into one another by chance — random collisions — those molecules that have complementary shapes lock onto to each other so the appropriate biochemical reactions can take place. This 'lock and key' model has been refined to a more flexible (and realistic) 'induced fit' hypothesis that allows each molecule to change shape slightly to fit the other better after they get in touch, but the main idea remains the same.

It is supposed to explain how enzymes can recognize their respective substrates, how antibodies in the immune system can grab onto specific foreign invaders and disarm them. By extension, that's how proteins can 'dock' with different partner proteins, or latch onto specific nucleic acids to control gene expression, or assemble into ribosomes for translating proteins, or other multi-molecular complexes that modify the genetic messages in various ways. But with thousands — or even hundreds of thousands of reactions happening each second in just one cell this seems pushing the "mechanical" concept a bit too far.

What has been proposed is that somehow each molecule sends out a unique electromagnetic field that can "sense" the field of the complimentary molecule. It's as if there is a "dance" in the cellular medium and the molecules move to the rythm. The music is supplied by the biophoton.

"Veljkovic and Cosic proposed that molecular interactions are electrical in nature, and they take place over distances that are large compared with the size of molecules. Cosic later introduced the idea of dynamic electromagnetic field interactions, that molecules recognize their particular targets and vice versa by electromagnetic resonance. In other words, the molecules send out specific frequencies of electromagnetic waves which not only enable them to 'see' and 'hear' each other, as both photon and phonon modes exist for electromagnetic waves, but also to influence each other at a distance and become ineluctably drawn to each other if vibrating out of phase (in a complementary way)." — The Real Bioinformatics Revolution: Proteins and Nucleic Acids Singing to One Another? (Paper available at report@i-sis.org.uk)

"There are about 100,000 chemical reactions happening in every cell each second. The chemical reaction can only happen if the molecule which is reacting is excited by a photon… Once the photon has excited a reaction it returns to the field and is available for more reactions… We are swimming in an ocean of light."

These 'biophoton emission', as Popp called them, provided an ideal communication system for the transfer of information to many cells across the organism. But the single most important question remained: where was the light coming from?

A particularly gifted student talked him into another experiment. It is known that when ethidium bromide is applied to samples of DNA, it insinuates itself in between the base pairs of the double helix, causing DNA to unwind. The student suggested that, after applying the chemical, they measure the light coming from the sample. Popp found that the greater the concentration of ethidium, the more the DNA unravelled, but also the stronger the intensity of light. Conversely, the less he used, the less light was emitted.

He also found that DNA could send out a wide range of frequencies, some of which seemed to be linked to certain functions. If DNA stored this light, it would naturally emit more light on being unzipped.

These and other studies proved to Popp that one of the most essential sources of light and biophoton emissions was DNA. DNA was like the master tuning fork of the body. It would strike a particular frequency and certain molecules would follow. It was also possible, he realised, that he had stumbled upon the missing link in current DNA theory that could account for perhaps the greatest miracle of all in human biology — how a single cell can turn into a fully formed human being.

How cells "talk" to eachother

When you get a cut or scratch on your skin, the cells that are injured somehow signal the surrounding healthy cells to begin reproducing copies of themselves to fill in and mend the opening. When the skin is back to normal, a signal is sent to the cells to tell them to stop reproducing. Scientists have wondered exactly how this works.

With biophoton emissions, Popp believed he had an answer to this question. This phenomenon of coordination and communication could only occur in a holistic system with one central orchestrator. Popp showed in his experiments that these weak light emissions were sufficient to orchestrate the body's repairs. The emissions had to be low intensity because these communications took place on a very small, intracellular, quantum level. Higher intensities would have an effect only in the world of the large and would create too much "noise" to be effective.

The number of photons emitted seemed to be linked to the organism's position on the evolutionary scale — the more complex the organism, the fewer photons were emitted. Rudimentary animals and plants tended to emit 100 photons/cm2/sec at a wavelength of 200-800 nm, corresponding to a very-high-frequency EM wave well within the visible range, whereas humans emit only 10 photons/cm2/sec at the same frequency.

In one series of studies, Popp had one of his assistants — a 27-year-old healthy young woman — sit in the room every day for nine months while he took photon readings of a small area of her hand and forehead. Popp then analysed the data and discovered, to his surprise, that the light emissions followed certain set patterns — biological rhythms at 7, 14, 32, 80 and 270 days — and similarities were also noted by day or night, by week and by month, as though the body were following the world's biorhythms as well as its own.

Cancer is a loss of coherent light

So far, Popp had studied only healthy individuals and found an exquisite coherence at the quantum level. But what kind of light is present in those who are ill?

Popp tried out his machine on a series of cancer patients. In every instance, these patients had lost those natural periodic rhythms as well as their coherence. The lines of internal communication were scrambled. They had lost their connection with the world. In effect, their light was going out.

Just the opposite is seen with multiple sclerosis: MS is a state of too much order. Patients with this disease are taking in too much light, thereby inhibiting their cells' ability to do their job. Too much cooperative harmony prevented flexibility and individuality — like too many soldiers marching in step as they cross a bridge, causing it to collapse. Perfect coherence is an optimal state between chaos and order. With too much cooperation, it is as though individual members of the orchestra are no longer able to improvise. In effect, MS patients are drowning in light.

Popp also examined the effects of stress. In a stressed state, the rate of biophoton emissions goes up — a defence mechanism designed to restore the patient's equilibrium.

Popp now recognized that what he'd been experimenting with was even more than a cure for cancer or Gestaltbildung. Here was a model which provided a better explanation than the current neo-Darwinist theory for how all living things evolve on the planet. Rather than a system of fortunate but ultimately random error, if DNA uses frequencies of every variety as an information tool, this suggests instead a feedback system of perfect communication through waves that encode and transfer information.

"Good vibes" means coherent light

Popp came to realize that light in the body might even hold the key to health and illness. In one experiment, he compared the light from free-range hens' eggs with that from penned-in, caged hens. The photons in the former were far more coherent than those in the latter.

Popp went on to use biophoton emissions as a tool for measuring the quality of food. The healthiest food had the lowest and most coherent intensity of light. Any disturbance in the system increased the production of photons. Health was a state of perfect subatomic communication, and ill health was a state of communication breakdown. We are ill when our waves are out of synch.

Bio Photon emission detection is currently used commercially in the food industry. Agricultural science is looking at Bio-photon emissions to determine plant health for the purposes of food quality control. Biophotonen is a company working for development and practical applications of biophotonics. The work is based on a variety of patents. "Biophotonen" solves practical problems of food industry, environmental industry, cosmetics, etc.

Off-shoots of Dr. Popp's discovery

In the 1970s Dr. Veljko Veljkovic, who now heads the Center for Multidisciplinary Research and Engineering, Institute of Nuclear Sciences Vinca, also discovered a method for predicting which of the hundreds of new chemicals made by the rapidly expanding chemical industry were carcinogenic, by calculating certain electronic, biophotonic properties of the molecules. This method was soon found equally applicable to predicting organic chemicals that were mutagenic, or toxic, and even those that were antibiotic, or cytostatic (anticancer). Veljkovic's institute in Belgrade has since teamed up with other European laboratories to apply the same method to drug discovery, especially against AIDS disease.

Biophoton Therapy

Biophoton therapy is the application of light to particular areas of the skin for healing purposes. The light, or photons, that are emitted by these units are absorbed by the skin's photoreceptors and then travel through the body's nervous system to the brain, where they help regulate what is referred to as our human bio-energy. By stimulating certain areas of the body with specific quantities of light, biophoton therapy can help reduce pain as well as aid in various healing processes throughout the body.

The theory behind biophoton therapy is based on the work of Dr. Franz Morell and has been expanded by the work of Doctors L.C. Vincent and F.A. Popp, who theorized that light can affect the electromagnetic oscillation, or waves of the body and regulate enzyme activity.

It took some 25 years for Popp to gather converts from among the scientific community. Slowly, a few select scientists around the globe began to consider that the body's communication system might be a complex network of resonance and frequency. Eventually, they would form the International Institute of Biophysics, composed of 15 groups of scientists from international centres around the world.

Popp and his new colleagues went on to study the light emissions from several organisms of the same species, first in an experiment with a type of water flea of the genus Daphnia. What they found was nothing short of astonishing. Tests with a photomultiplier showed that the water fleas were sucking up the light emitted from each other. Popp tried the same experiment on small fish and got the same result. According to his photomultiplier, sunflowers were like biological vacuum cleaners, moving in the direction of the most solar photons to hoover them up. Even bacteria swallowed photons from the media they were put in.

Communication between organisms

Thus, it dawned on Popp that these emissions had a purpose outside of the body. Wave resonance wasn't only being used to communicate inside the body, but between living things as well. Two healthy beings engaged in 'photon sucking', as he called it, by exchanging photons. Popp realised that this exchange might unlock the secret of some of the animal kingdom's most persistent conundrums: how schools of fish or flocks of birds create perfect and instantaneous coordination. Many experiments on the homing ability of animals demonstrate that it has nothing to do with following habitual trails, scents or even the EM fields of the earth, but rather some form of silent communication that acts like an invisible rubber band, even when the animals are separated by miles of distance.

For humans, there was another possibility. If we could take in the photons of other living things, we might also be able to use the information from them to correct our own light if it went awry.

Death Transmission via the Paranormal "Light" Channel

Some extremely interesting experiments were performed by V.P. Kaznacheyev et al regarding the paranormal transmission of death by light inter-organism communication.

Briefly, two groups of cells were selected from the same cell culture and one sample placed on each side of a window joining two environmentally shielded rooms. The cell cultures were in quartz containers. One cell culture was used as the initiation sample and was subjected to a deadly mechanism – virus, germ, chemical poison, irradiation, ultraviolet rays, etc. The second cell culture was observed, to ascertain any transmitted effects from the culture sample being killed.

When the window was made of ordinary glass, the second sample remained alive and healthy. When the window was made of quartz, the second sample sickened and died with the same symptoms as the primary sample.

The experiments were done in darkness, and over 5,000 were reported by Kaznacheyev and his colleagues. The onset of induced complementary sickness and death in the second culture followed a reasonable time — say two to four hours — behind sickness and death in the primary culture.

The major transmission difference between window glass and quartz is that quartz transmits both ultraviolet and infrared well, while glass is relatively opaque to ultraviolet and infrared. Both quartz and glass transmit visible light. Thus glass is a suppressor of the paranormal channel, while quartz is not.

In 1950, Western researchers found that cells could be killed in darkness with ultraviolet radiation, kept shielded from visible light for twenty-four hours or longer, and then if radiated with visible light the cells would start reviving by hundreds of thousands even though they had been clinically dead.

Specifically, every cell emits mitogenetic radiation in the ultraviolet range twice: when it is born and when it dies. The UV photon emitted at death contains the exact virtual state pattern of the condition of the cell at death. The healthy cells are bombarded with death messages from those that are dying, and this diffuses the death pattern throughout the healthy culture, eventually kindling into the same death pattern there.

[V.P. Kaznacheyev et al, "Distant Intercellular Interactions in a System of Two Tissue Cultures," Psychoenergetic Systems, Vol. 1, No. 3, March 1976, pp 141-142.]

Popp had begun experimenting with such an idea. If cancer-causing chemicals could alter the body's biophoton emissions, then it might be that other substances could reintroduce better communication. Popp wondered whether certain plant extracts could change the character of the biophoton emissions from cancer cells to make them communicate again with the rest of the body. He began experimenting with a number of non-toxic substances purported to be successful in treating cancer. In all but one instance, these substances only increased the photons from tumour cells, making them even more deadly to the body.

The single success story was mistletoe, which appeared to help the body to 'resocialise' the photon emissions of tumour cells back to normal. In one of numerous cases, Popp came across a woman in her thirties who had breast and vaginal cancer. Popp found a mistletoe remedy that created coherence in her cancer tissue samples. With the agreement of her doctor, the woman stopped any treatment other than the mistletoe extract and, after a year, all her laboratory tests were virtually back to normal.

To Popp, homoeopathy was another example of photon sucking. He had begun to think of it as a 'resonance absorber'. Homoeopathy rests upon the notion that like is treated with like. A plant extract that at full strength can cause hives in the body is used in an extremely diluted form to get rid of it. If a rogue frequency in the body can produce certain symptoms, it follows that a high dilution of a substance which can produce the same symptoms would also carry that frequency. Like a resonating tuning fork, a suitable homoeopathic solution might attract and then absorb the abnormal oscillations, allowing the body to return to normal health.

Popp thought that electro-magnetic molecular signalling might even explain acupuncture. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the human body has a system of meridians, running deep in the tissues, through which flows an invisible energy the Chinese call ch'i, or the life force. The ch'i supposedly enters the body through these acupuncture points and flows to deeper organ structures (which do not correspond to those in Western biology), providing energy (or the life force). Illness occurs when this energy is blocked at any point along the pathways. According to Popp, the meridian system transmits specific energy waves to specific zones of the body.

Research has shown that many of the acupuncture points have a dramatically reduced electrical resistance compared with the surrounding skin (10 kilo-ohms and 3 mega-ohms, respectively). Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Robert Becker, who has done a great deal of research on EM fields in the body, designed a special electrode recording device that rolls along the body like a pizza cutter. His many studies have shown electrical charges on every one of the people tested corresponding to the Chinese meridian points.

Light in human consciousness

I mention this latest work for those who may wish to explore the boundaries of photon research and theory. In a ground-breaking paper with the lengthy title of "Orchestrated Objective Reduction of Quantum Coherence in Brain Microtubules: The 'Orch OR' Model for Consciousness" by Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose, the brain is described as a quantum computer whose main architecture are the cytoskeletal microtubules and other structures within each of the brain's neurons.

If you examine a neuron, you will see that there are many hollow tubes surrounding the axon. These microtubules have been thought of as a kind of scaffold to support the nerve fiber. But they are now getting a second look as the possible architecture of our consciousness.

The particular characteristics of microtubules that make them suitable for quantum effects include their crystal-like lattice structure, hollow inner core, organization of cell function and capacity for information processing. According to the researchers, their size appears perfectly designed to transmit photons in the UV range.

[Above:] Schematic of central region of neuron (distal axon and dendrites not shown), showing parallel arrayed microtubules interconnected by MAPs. Microtubules in axons are lengthy and continuous, whereas in dendrites they are interrupted and of mixed polarity. Linking proteins connect microtubules to membrane proteins including receptors on dendritic spines.

"Traditionally viewed as the cell's 'bone-like' scaffolding, microtubules and other cytoskeletal structures now appear to fill communicative and information processing roles. Theoretical models suggest how conformational states of tubulins within microtubule lattices can interact with neighboring tubulins to represent, propagate and process information as in molecular-level 'cellular automata' computing systems." — Hameroff and Watt, 1982; Rasmussen et al, 1990; Hameroff et al, 1992

In their paper, Hameroff and Penrose present a model linking microtubules to consciousness using quantum theory. In their model, quantum coherence emerges, and is isolated in brain microtubules until a threshold related to quantum gravity is reached. The resultant self-collapse creates an instantaneous "now" event. Sequences of such events create a flow of time, and consciousness.

Don't worry if you can't understand this. It's heavy reading but it does show that the existence of internal photons — inner light — is very real and is the basis of virtually all human cellular and systemic function.

Could the Russian scientists really have changed a salamander embryo into a frog with lasers? I prefer to wait until the actual details of the experiment are published and reviewed — but I am much less apt to dismiss this as fiction now that I know about our inner lights.

The term "bio" in biophotons was introduced to point out the classification of photons being emitted from a biological source. This phenomenon was characterized by measuring single photons. This indicated that the biophoton is subject to quantum optics rather than classical physics. Biophotons are photons emitted spontaneously by all living systems. Biophotons are characterized by delayed luminescence and are associated with biological systems hence the name biophotons as distinct from photons which are normally associated with inanimate physical systems.

The biophoton phenomenon is not confined to "thermal" radiation in the infrared range. It is well known that biophotons are emitted also in the range from visible up to the UV ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. The intensity of biophotons can be registered from a few photons per second in a square centimeter surface area to several hundred photons per second in a square centimeter from every living system.

"The high degree of coherence of biophotons elucidates the universal phenomenon of biological systems — coherence of biophotons is responsible for the information transfer within and between cells. This answers the crucial question of intra and extracellular biocommunication, including the regulation of metabolic activities of cells, growth, differentiation and evolutionary development."

— F.A. Popp, 1999

Biological systems are governed by the interactions of energy fields that are electromagnetic by nature. These energy fields are emitted by the biophotons derived from the biological matter. The energy fields dirigate the location and activity of matter, while matter provides the boundary for the energy fields. Thus, we define the correlations between energy and matter.

"An ordinary cell has a diameter of approximately 10 -3 cm. Inside the cell there is a rather high metabolic activity of about 10 5 reactions per second. For every reaction the suitable activation energy (in the range from microwaves to the ultraviolet) is necessary to establish the formation of the transitional state complex that finally decays into chemical products. Biochemical reactions take place in a way that a photon is borrowed from the surrounding electromagnetic bath, then, it excites the transition state complex and finally returns to the equilibrium states of the surroundings, becoming available for the next reaction. The single photon may suffice to trigger about 10 9 reactions per second. The reaction is directed in a way that it delivers the right activation energy as well as the right momentum at the right time to the right place. Thus, a surprisingly low photon intensity may suffice to trigger all of the chemical reactions in a cell. Despite the low intensities, at any given instant at least 10 10 to 10 40 more photons are available than under thermal equilibrium conditions.

A temperature increase of 10° doubles the photon density of a thermal field under physiological conditions resulting in a doubling of the reaction rate."

— F.A. Popp, 1999

Biophotons also have a characteristic frequency that defines their resonance patterns and energy distribution. The study of these frequencies and resonance patterns is vital in the understanding the omnifarious electromagnetic spectrum and how its energies can be harnessed and effectively utilized therapeutically, in biological systems.

Brain region that predicts the future identified

When the human host is hormonally balanced it can access this area of the brain…

The part of the brain we use to predict the immediate future has been identified.

Jeffrey Zacks, a cognitive neuroscientist at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, carried out fMRI brain scans on volunteers watching film clips of everyday scenes, such as a person washing dishes. The participants showed increased activity in the midbrain dopamine system (MDS) just before and after a scene changed, indicating this brain area is involved in both anticipating and responding to events.

Dopamine-producing cells in part of the MDS are impaired in Parkinson's disease, suggesting the disease impairs people's ability to recognise transitions in everyday situations. The study could one day lead to an early diagnostic tool for Parkinson's and other cognitive diseases, says Zacks.

Bioelectricity, Qi, and the Human Body

Bio-electricity, Qi, and the Human Body

by Don E. Brown II, MSIS

Certified Instructor; Chi Energy Heals

Qi is the electric energy associated with living organisms. Electricity, defined by Merriam-Webster, is as follows: a fundamental form of energy observable in positive and negative forms that occurs naturally (as in lightning) or is produced (as in a generator) and that is expressed in terms of the movement and interaction of electrons.

Generally speaking, when thinking of electricity, we think of it as something external to our human bodies: the naturally occurring lightning and human created technology being two said instances. There is, however, a form of electricity that is prevalent in every living creature: bioelectricity.

Bioelectricity is the electric phenomena related to living organisms It is bioelectricity that enables a shark to map the ocean floor. It is bio-electromagnetic phenomena that enable migratory birds to travel great distances at the same time each year with the accuracy we have only been able to reproduce with maps and GPS. It is bioelectricity that enables the electric eel to generate large fields of current outside their bodies.

The difference of electricity vs. bioelectricity is in degree, not in kind. Whereas a lightning bolt can exceed temperatures of 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit (30,000 degrees Celsius), that same current runs through the human body, just on a smaller scale. In fact, the human body runs largely off of [bio] electricity and has organs dedicated to sensing electromagnetic impulses, both inside and outside the human body. The pineal and pituitary glands are both directly tied to the human body’s ability to sense and actively experience electromagnetic phenomenon.

The pineal gland is the evolutionary descendant of our ancestors’ ability to perceive light. It also “regulates the circadian rhythms of the body, biological rhythms that are attuned to the day-night cycle,” (Celtoslavica, “Electricity and Human Consciousness); these “rhythms” can be and have been disrupted by electromagnetic fields, both naturally occurring as well as man-made. The pituitary gland “controls and influences all other hormonal organs which report back to the pituitary gland” (Celtoslavica, “Electricity and Human Consciousness); in fact, the pituitary gland is largely responsible for the overall functioning and efficiency of the human nervous system.

The nervous system in human beings is based entirely off of the ability to transmit electric pulses. Every cell within the human body pumps ions (e.g. that which makes up the quantum field), in and out of the cell for energy purposes; this is called the Sodium-Potassium pump, and can be found in all animal life. Said energy, in the biological animal, is called “adenosine triphosphate” (ATP); biologists and biochemist alike have noted that ATP can be neutral, or carry a charge (plus or minus), and is, infact, a charged particle which the cells use for energy. ATP is the final product of the digestive cycle and further exemplifies the human being’s connection (and ability) to experience and manipulate the electromagnetic fields that permeate the Universe.

“Bio-magnetism: An Awesome Force in Our Lives”, an article published by Reader’s Digest (January 1983), highlights some of the [still] cutting edge concepts the scientific community is, and has been, practicing: “When a patient with a broken leg that is not healing properly comes to Dr. Basset (Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, NY), he is likely to go home with two heavy pads connected by wires to a box that can plug into an electrical wall socket. The patient puts one pad on each side of his broken bone and turns on the device. Coils of wire in the pad induce a pulsing electromagnetic field into his flesh and bone — a field of qi energy that somehow commands the bone to heal itself.”

As postulated by the scientists interviewed in the article, it makes sense that human beings have the innate ability to sense electromagnetic phenomena: “We live on a sun-lit planet, and most living things have acquired some means to use the light. We live in a world filled with sounds, and most living things have developed a means to sense vibrations. Since our planet is also a giant magnet, it should not surprise us to discover that we and many other living things have a sensitivity to Earth's magnetic-force field.”

As we look from large-scale physics, e.g., the lightning bolt and the sodium-potassium pump, to smaller scale electromagnetic phenomenon, we find ourselves in the realm of quantum mechanics. Light is an electromagnetic phenomenon. Light is both a wave and a particle. In terms of quantum mechanics, electricity and light are the same. The oscillations of the impulses create the divergent effects. Microwaves, radio waves, even the non-lethal weapons of the US Army (such as the Active Denial System) are based out of electromagnetic fields.

Qi, too, is an electromagnetic phenomenon. Qi is energy; light energy; bio-electromagnetic energy; electricity. The degree of strength in an electromagnetic impulse is the difference between the heart pumping vs. a heart attack. When building qi, it is important to understand, important to know, that the electricity you are both introducing to your body as well as augmenting within your body, can be controlled/manipulated by your mind.

The design of the human body features many organs attuned to electromagnetic phenomena: the eyes register individual photon packets; the tympanic membrane vibrates the mechanical wave of sound; the brain creates an electromagnetic field that is both separate and different from that which the heart generates. All this is to say that not only do human beings interact with electricity, we are fully capable of cultivating and controlling the bioelectricity we generate via our own bodies.

Understanding that qi is our natural form of electricity, and that this energy comprises the very
building blocks of spacetime, it is easy for us to see with the eyes of the enlightened – the
interconnectedness we have with the Universe, and our abilities to move past the mundane.

Single Atom Stores Quantum Information

Single Atom Stores Quantum Information

ScienceDaily (May 2, 2011) — A data memory can hardly be any smaller: researchers working with Gerhard Rempe at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching have stored quantum information in a single atom. The researchers wrote the quantum state of single photons, i.e. particles of light, into a rubidium atom and read it out again after a certain storage time. This technique can be used in principle to design powerful quantum computers and to network them with each other across large distances.

Quantum computers will one day be able to cope with computational tasks in no time where current computers would take years. They will take their enormous computing power from their ability to simultaneously process the diverse pieces of information which are stored in the quantum state of microscopic physical systems, such as single atoms and photons.

In order to be able to operate, the quantum computers must exchange these pieces of information between their individual components. Photons are particularly suitable for this, as no matter needs to be transported with them. Particles of matter however will be used for the information storage and processing. Researchers are therefore looking for methods whereby quantum information can be exchanged between photons and matter. Although this has already been done with ensembles of many thousands of atoms, physicists at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching have now proved that quantum information can also be exchanged between single atoms and photons in a controlled way.

Using a single atom as a storage unit has several advantages — the extreme miniaturization being only one, says Holger Specht from the Garching-based Max Planck Institute, who was involved in the experiment. The stored information can be processed by direct manipulation on the atom, which is important for the execution of logical operations in a quantum computer. "In addition, it offers the chance to check whether the quantum information stored in the photon has been successfully written into the atom without destroying the quantum state," says Specht. It is thus possible to ascertain at an early stage that a computing process must be repeated because of a storage error.

The fact that no one had succeeded until very recently in exchanging quantum information between photons and single atoms was because the interaction between the particles of light and the atoms is very weak. Atom and photon do not take much notice of each other, as it were, like two party guests who hardly talk to each other, and can therefore exchange only a little information. The researchers in Garching have enhanced the interaction with a trick. They placed a rubidium atom between the mirrors of an optical resonator, and then used very weak laser pulses to introduce single photons into the resonator. The mirrors of the resonator reflected the photons to and fro several times, which strongly enhanced the interaction between photons and atom. Figuratively speaking, the party guests thus meet more often and the chance that they talk to each other increases.

The photons carried the quantum information in the form of their polarization. This can be left-handed (the direction of rotation of the electric field is anti-clockwise) or right-handed (clock-wise). The quantum state of the photon can contain both polarizations simultaneously as a so-called superposition state. In the interaction with the photon the rubidium atom is usually excited and then loses the excitation again by means of the probabilistic emission of a further photon. The Garching-based researchers did not want this to happen. On the contrary, the absorption of the photon was to bring the rubidium atom into a definite, stable quantum state. The researchers achieved this with the aid of a further laser beam, the so-called control laser, which they directed onto the rubidium atom at the same time as it interacted with the photon.

The spin orientation of the atom contributes decisively to the stable quantum state generated by control laser and photon. Spin gives the atom a magnetic moment. The stable quantum state, which the researchers use for the storage, is thus determined by the orientation of the magnetic moment. The state is characterized by the fact that it reflects the photon's polarization state: the direction of the magnetic moment corresponds to the rotational direction of the photon's polarization, a mixture of both rotational directions being stored by a corresponding mixture of the magnetic moments.

This state is read out by the reverse process: irradiating the rubidium atom with the control laser again causes it to re-emit the photon which was originally incident. In the vast majority of cases, the quantum information in the read-out photon agrees with the information originally stored, as the physicists in Garching discovered. The quantity that describes this relationship, the so-called fidelity, was more than 90 percent. This is significantly higher than the 67 percent fidelity that can be achieved with classical methods, i.e. those not based on quantum effects. The method developed in Garching is therefore a real quantum memory.

The physicists measured the storage time, i.e. the time the quantum information in the rubidium can be retained, as around 180 microseconds. "This is comparable with the storage times of all previous quantum memories based on ensembles of atoms," says Stephan Ritter, another researcher involved in the experiment. Nevertheless, a significantly longer storage time is necessary for the method to be used in a quantum computer or a quantum network. There is also a further quality characteristic of the single-atom quantum memory from Garching which could be improved: the so-called efficiency. It is a measure of how many of the irradiated photons are stored and then read out again. This was just under 10 percent.

The storage time is mainly limited by magnetic field fluctuations from the laboratory surroundings, says Ritter. "It can therefore be increased by storing the quantum information in quantum states of the atoms which are insensitive to magnetic fields." The efficiency is limited by the fact that the atom does not sit still in the centre of the resonator, but moves. This causes the strength of the interaction between atom and photon to decrease. The researchers can thus also improve the efficiency: by greater cooling of the atom, i.e. by further reducing its kinetic energy.

The researchers at the Max Planck Institute in Garching now want to work on these two improvements. "If this is successful, the prospects for the single-atom quantum memory would be excellent," says Stephan Ritter. The interface between light and individual atoms would make it possible to network more atoms in a quantum computer with each other than would be possible without such an interface; a fact that would make such a computer more powerful. Moreover, the exchange of photons would make it possible to quantum mechanically entangle atoms across large distances. The entanglement is a kind of quantum mechanical link between particles which is necessary to transport quantum information across large distances. The technique now being developed at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics could some day thus become an essential component of a future "quantum Internet."

The ‘quantum magnet’

Harvard physicists expand prospects for engineering unusual materials

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Harvard physicists have expanded the possibilities for quantum engineering of novel materials such as high-temperature superconductors by coaxing ultracold atoms trapped in an optical lattice — a light crystal — to self-organize into a magnet, using only the minute disturbances resulting from quantum mechanics. The research, published in the journal Nature, is the first demonstration of such a “quantum magnet” in an optical lattice.

As modern technology depends more and more on materials with exotic quantum mechanical properties, researchers are coming up against a natural barrier.

“The problem is that what makes these materials useful often makes them extremely difficult to design,”said senior author Markus Greiner, an associate professor in Harvard’s Department of Physics. “They can become entangled, existing in multiple configurations at the same time. This hallmark of quantum mechanics is difficult for normal computers to represent, so we had to take another approach.”

That approach is using a so-called “quantum simulator” — the properties of a quantum material are simulated with an artificial quantum system that can behave similarly, but that is easier to manipulate and observe.

The physicists found that when they applied a force to a crystal formed by ultracold atoms trapped in an optical lattice, a Mott insulator, the atoms behaved like a chain of little magnets that repelled one another, in the presence of an external magnetic field that sought to align them.

“When the external magnetic field was strong, all of the magnets aligned to it, forming a paramagnet,” said co-author Jonathan Simon, a postdoctoral fellow in physics. “When we reduced the magnetic field, the magnets spontaneously anti-aligned to their neighbors, producing an antiferromagnet.”

While such self-organization is common in everyday materials, it typically depends on temperature to jostle the system into the new order, like shaking a Boggle game to help the dice settle, the researchers say. “But the temperature was so low that thermal fluctuations were absent,” explained Simon. “Our fluctuations arose from quantum mechanics.”

When quantum mechanics takes over, things get bizarre. “Quantum fluctuations can make the magnets point in multiple directions simultaneously,” Greiner said. “This ‘quantum weirdness’ gives rise to many of the fascinating properties of quantum magnets.”

Greiner and his colleagues used a quantum gas microscope to observe individual magnets at temperatures of one billionth of a degree above absolute zero (-273 Celsius). They were able to watch as quantum fluctuations flipped the magnets around, turning a paramagnet into an antiferromagnet and back again.

“Observing quantum magnetism in a cold gas is a crucial first step toward quantum simulation of real magnetic materials,” Greiner said. “There remain many exciting questions to answer, and we have only just scratched the surface. By studying the bizarre and wonderful ways that quantum mechanics works, we open new perspectives not only for developing novel high-tech materials, but also for quantum information processing and computation.”

Greiner and Simon’s co-authors are Waseem Bakr, Ruichao Ma, Eric Tai, and Philipp Preiss, all in the University’s Physics Department. Their work was supported by the Army Research Office through the DARPA OLE program, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research MURI program, and by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Meditation Changes Temperature

Meditation changes temperatures:

Mind controls body in extreme experiments

By William J. Cromie

In a monastery in northern India, thinly clad Tibetan monks sat quietly in a room where the temperature was a chilly 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a yoga technique known as g Tum-mo, they entered a state of deep meditation. Other monks soaked 3-by-6-foot sheets in cold water (49 degrees) and placed them over the meditators' shoulders. For untrained people, such frigid wrappings would produce uncontrolled shivering.

If body temperatures continue to drop under these conditions, death can result. But it was not long before steam began rising from the sheets. As a result of body heat produced by the monks during meditation, the sheets dried in about an hour.

Attendants removed the sheets, then covered the meditators with a second chilled, wet wrapping. Each monk was required to dry three sheets over a period of several hours.

Why would anyone do this? Herbert Benson, who has been studying g Tum-mo for 20 years, answers that "Buddhists feel the reality we live in is not the ultimate one. There's another reality we can tap into that's unaffected by our emotions, by our everyday world. Buddhists believe this state of mind can be achieved by doing good for others and by meditation. The heat they generate during the process is just a by-product of g Tum-mo meditation."

Benson is an associate professor of medicine at the Harvard Medical School and president of the Mind/Body Medical Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He firmly believes that studying advanced forms of meditation "can uncover capacities that will help us to better treat stress-related illnesses."

Benson developed the "relaxation response," which he describes as "a physiological state opposite to stress." It is characterized by decreases in metabolism, breathing rate, heart rate, and blood pressure. He and others have amassed evidence that it can help those suffering from illnesses caused or exacerbated by stress. Benson and colleagues use it to treat anxiety, mild and moderate depression, high blood pressure, heartbeat irregularities, excessive anger, insomnia, and even infertility. His team also uses this type of simple meditation to calm those who have been traumatized by the deaths of others, or by diagnoses of cancer or other painful, life-threatening illnesses.

"More than 60 percent of visits to physicians in the United States are due to stress-related problems, most of which are poorly treated by drugs, surgery, or other medical procedures," Benson maintains.

The Mind/Body Medical Institute is now training people to use the relaxation response to help people working at Ground Zero in New York City, where two airplanes toppled the World Trade Center Towers last Sept. 11. Facilities have been set up at nearby St. Paul's Chapel to aid people still working on clearing wreckage and bodies. Anyone else who feels stressed by those terrible events can also obtain help at the chapel. "We are training the trainers who work there," Benson says.

The relaxation response involves repeating a word, sound, phrase, or short prayer while disregarding intrusive thoughts. "If such an easy-to-master practice can bring about the remarkable changes we observe," Benson notes. "I want to investigate what advanced forms of meditation can do to help the mind control physical processes once thought to be uncontrollable."

Breathtaking results

Some Westerners practice g Tum-mo, but it often takes years to reach states like those achieved by Buddhist monks. In trying to find groups he could study, Benson met Westerners who claimed to have mastered such advanced techniques, but who were, in his words, "fraudulent."

Benson decided that he needed to locate a religious setting, where advanced mediation is traditionally practiced. His opportunity came in 1979 when the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet, visited Harvard University. "His Holiness agreed to help me," recalls Benson. That visit was the beginning of a long friendship and several expeditions to northern India where many Tibetan monks live in exile.

During visits to remote monasteries in the 1980s, Benson and his team studied monks living in the Himalayan Mountains who could, by g Tum-mo meditation, raise the temperatures of their fingers and toes by as much as 17 degrees. It has yet to be determined how the monks are able to generate such heat.

The researchers also made measurements on practitioners of other forms of advanced meditation in Sikkim, India. They were astonished to find that these monks could lower their metabolism by 64 percent. "It was an astounding, breathtaking [no pun intended] result," Benson exclaims.

To put that decrease in perspective, metabolism, or oxygen consumption, drops only 10-15 percent in sleep and about 17 percent during simple meditation. Benson believes that such a capability could be useful for space travel. Travelers might use meditation to ease stress and oxygen consumption on long flights to other planets.

In 1985, the meditation team made a video of monks drying cold, wet sheets with body heat. They also documented monks spending a winter night on a rocky ledge 15,000 feet high in the Himalayas. The sleep-out took place in February on the night of the winter full moon when temperatures reached zero degrees F. Wearing only woolen or cotton shawls, the monks promptly fell asleep on the rocky ledge, They did not huddle together and the video shows no evidence of shivering. They slept until dawn then walked back to their monastery.

Overcoming obstacles

Working in isolated monasteries in the foothills of the Himalayas proved extremely difficult. Some religious leaders keep their meditative procedures a closely guarded secret. Medical measuring devices require electrical power and wall outlets are not always available. In addition, trying to meditate while strangers attempt to measure your rectal temperature is not something most monks are happy to do.

To avoid these problems, Instructor in Psychology Sara Lazar, a Benson colleague, used functional magnetic resonance imaging to scan the brains of meditators at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The subjects were males, aged 22-45, who had practiced a form of advanced mediation called Kundalini daily for at least four years. In these experiments, the obstacles of cold and isolation were replaced by the difficulties of trying to meditate in a cramped, noisy machine. However, the results, published in the May 15, 2000, issue of the journal NeuroReport, turned out to be significant.

Herbert Benson

"Lazar found a marked decrease in blood flow to the entire brain," Benson explains. "At the same time, certain areas of the brain became more active, specifically those that control attention and autonomic functions like blood pressure and metabolism. In short, she showed the value of using this method to record changes in the brain's activity during meditation."

The biggest obstruction in further studies, whether in India or Boston, has always been money. Research proceeded slowly and intermittently until February 2001, when Benson's team received a $1.25 million grant from Loel Guinness, via the beer magnate's Kalpa Foundation, established to study extraordinary human capacities.

The funds enabled researchers to bring three monks experienced in g Tum-mo to a Guinness estate in Normandy, France, last July. The monks then practiced for 100 days to reach their full meditative capacity. An eye infection sidelined one of the monks, but the other two proved able to dry frigid, wet sheets while wearing sensors that recorded changes in heat production and metabolism.

Although the team obtained valuable data, Benson concludes that "the room was not cold enough to do the tests properly." His team will try again this coming winter with six monks. They will start practice in late summer and should be ready during the coldest part of winter.

Benson feels sure these attempts to understand advanced mediation will lead to better treatments for stress-related illnesses. "My hope," he says, "is that self-care will stand equal with medical drugs, surgery, and other therapies that are now used to alleviate mental and physical suffering. Along with nutrition and exercise, mind/body approaches can be part of self-care practices that could save millions of dollars annually in medical costs."

Chi Energy and happiness…

Chi Energy and happiness…

What’s so perfect about the pursuit of happiness?

Well the first thing we know is that we are mortal beings that have needs and wants.  So it stands to reason that we are not perfect.  However we do try to be perfect in all kinds of ways and one of those ways is through the pursuit of happiness.

We try to be perfect in our pursuit with books, seminars or experiences to learn how to handle the pressures of acquiring happiness.  Most of the time, we end up with a delightful diversion from our endeavor.  Some people find that for a season they can control their emotional stability when in pursuit of happiness; then when that season ends the stability starts to fluctuate.

During the pursuit of happiness our best and worst traits show up and sometimes they become too emotionally hot to handle.  This occurs when happiness never quite comes to fruition. Or the desire of happiness constantly needs to be shored up or when it is obtained and then threatened to be taken away.   What occurs is an emotional roller coaster ride through the journey to acquire happiness.

Some feel that the pursuit of happiness drives the human race.  They feel that strong or extreme emotions are the way to find happiness. Perhaps the premise is that without this type of drive one would only aimlessly flounder.  How could commercialism stand alone without the drive of happiness?  Doesn’t it make the world go round?

There is no doubt that people can pursue happiness and ride the emotional fluctuations.  Some do quite well creating temporary short and long term successes.  However most of us create or attract some kind of drama, strife or illness along the way that hampers our journey.

So “what is so perfect about the pursuit of happiness?”  How can one go through life while pursuing happiness in a balanced way before becoming exhausted and never to enjoy the fruits?

Perhaps there is a way to enjoy the pursuit of happiness with longer lasting satisfaction.  At the School of Chi Energy Heals, we know that building high amounts of bio-energy in the body creates a hormonal flow that amplifies or intensifies emotions.

The instruction teaches an excellent method to stabilize the mind and body as the demands increase during the building of high level chi.  The method is uniquely specialized and I personally found none other like it.  It is called the Tri-concept.

The Tri-concept teaches the student how to build extreme amounts of bio-energy in the body with a good feeling and cool energy while using a form.  Many can learn this method and stay within a moderate range of emotional stability.  So when stress levels go up and hormones are about to inflame the body, the Tri-concept of good feeling and cool energy engages.   This teaches the body and mind a relaxation response to new stress levels.

This bio-energy training teaches the individual how to maintain emotional stability in the high 90 percent range.  The body and mind adapts to handle higher amounts of stress levels while keeping calm and relaxed.   Your creativity and energy will last the day through by developing a sensitive skill to vary precise amounts of bio-energy.  This extreme sensitivity ability allows you to pursue happiness without wearing down the mind and body.

Everything in life changes with this Chi Energy method of training.  For it is possible to buildup high amounts of bio-energy while maintaining emotional stability proportional to greater stress levels. Greater amounts of “chi” can bring extraordinary achievements in life.

The method allows the “stress” to be built up in a hormonally balanced way.  Students of this training have their body respond to the stress build up with the release of serotonin which is the good feeling hormone.  Students learn to use the bio-energy forms to release the serotonin through the blood stream.  This in turn releases natural killer cells keeping the body from harmful internal invaders.   It’s a scientific fact that the body only produces NKC while in a good feeling mood. (http://www.chienergyheals.com/2011/06/5041/)

Basically, the chemically driven body stabilizes to proportionally higher amounts of stress without experiencing the negative side effects.  Students enjoy a healthy immune system, more energy, creativity and a powerful new version of themselves.

You’ll feel exceptionally good natured and will influence everyone around you because of your calm and cool energetic disposition.  Even when others are not feeling so good you’ll take the lead and bring them up to your good feeling and cool emotional state.  This is exactly what students will learn.  When bio-energy is used correctly it becomes the great equalizer in all relationships.  Students in the medical and holistic field find this method allows them to stay in their energy field (on their game).   They learn how the bio-energy can be used to avoid being drained from the energetic needs from their clients.  They become able to give more while staying relaxed and cool.

When one begins this chi training it all seems so counter intuitive.  Why?  Because the training does not require the analytical mind to buildup the chi.  Also, the outside world always demands proof before the experience.  And yet the physical proof that bio-energy exists, is all around you.  There are those who know quite well that this bio-energy can be built up to high levels then used to influence the human experience.  However to teach this method effectively and safely to the public is what our School of Chi Energy Heals can do best.

You’ll first learn how to buildup bio-energy in a form.  This is done by guiding the form through the body’s nerve fibers.  This builds an even amount of pressure and density so the bio-energy has enough power to create a physical effect.  One of the many beneficial physical effects from the chi is the clearing out of toxins at a cellular level by activating the sodium potassium pump resulting in more life giving bio-energy. (http://www.chienergyheals.com/2010/11/the-science-of-chi-energy-2/)

The Chi Energy is built up in the body with low impact aerobic bio-energy exercises that are easy to learn.   These types of specially designed bio-energy exercises avoid the head area where the glands are especially sensitive to high amounts of energy produced with this type buildup.

In this system, the hormones need to be balanced in a moderate range while building high levels of chi.  Chi or bio-energy is like electricity and intensifying hormones produce a “heat” which causes a wide range of fluctuations. That is why classes are provided to explain how Quantum physics supports the microcosmic world of bio-energy which are subatomic particles that are electromagnetic in nature.  It is this is bio-electrical network which provides a pure communication from the mind to the body’s vital systems. (http://www.chienergyheals.com/2011/06/chi-quantum-entanglement/)

Students will enjoy beginning classes to test this bio-energy being built up in their body.  Some of these one to two minutes exercises are telekinesis (moving a straw through a clear container with bio-energy), remote viewing (seeing objects through containers or feeling another through a solid object like a door) and extreme abilities (like bending a spoon).  This is all done with a good feeling and cool bio-energy. Reference mp3 download on telekinesis (http://www.chienergyheals.com/)

Best of all students have the benefit of those that have gone before them being able to discuss their training with experienced certified instructors.  Mentoring assists the student to hone down and fine tune this extreme buildup of chi achieving the best practices of this professional training.

So what’s so perfect about the pursuit of happiness?  It’s the personal choice to go through the moments of your life the way you want to feel.  If you desire to feel good while having a large sphere of energetic influence while pursing your happiness, then visit us at the School of Chi Energy Heals www.chienergyheals.com  and check out our course curriculum.

Chi Energy and Adrenal Fatigue

Chi Energy Training Controls Adrenal Fatigue

The Silent Killer

Did you know your body’s endocrine system is the “Airport Control Tower” to balance your immune system?  When external and internal stressors become too much for the body, it goes into fight and flight, creating an inflammatory response that could possibly last 24×7. This inflammation is due to the mind sending signals that tell the body to react to a situation “real or imagined”.   It then releases powerful hormones that start the process of burning fuel and all internal systems are on alert.

In fact most people are so “insensitive”, to their own minds and bodies, that they feel this intense level of stress is normal.    You become numb to the intensity. Unmanaged stress can become chronic “adrenal fatigue”.  This can produce stages of illness and disease that are inevitable in the outcome.

It could possibly develop into cancers, tumors and autoimmune diseases. Your endocrine system is a powerful neurological transmitter of “hormones” that control the body’s immune system.  That’s why is so critical to your mind and body to reduce stress and enjoy a balanced endocrine system.

Chi and Invisibility

Posted by admin On June - 27 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Invisibility” is a concept that predates written language; even early hunters and gatherers knew the advantages of being “unseen” when tracking prey.  Camouflage techniques have improved throughout the centuries, and most recently, so have scientific breakthroughs regarding the possibility to achieve invisibility through technology.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “invisible” is defined as: “incapable by nature of being seen; inaccessible to view.”

The ability to go unseen, to actually become “invisible”, is something many chi gung practitioners hope to achieve.  Like the “magic cloaks” of science fiction and fantasy lore, many naysayers outside and within the chi gung community will argue this to be impossible.  Although this article will not go into the specifics on how to perform an “invisibility” technique, (or for all the Trekkies out there, “cloaking” technique), this article will focus on the actual scientific rationale as to why this works via technology, and provide insights as to why this can also be done with chi.

Invisible Technology:

In an article published by Wired magazine, it was stated that: “the U.S. Army is getting closer to mastering man-made "meta-materials" that can bend light around an object.”

http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/08/army-eyes-invis.html

According David Smith, a professor at Duke University: “A metamaterial is a material with unique properties that derive from its physical structure, not its chemical make up.”  Smith’s findings suggest that, in order to actually manipulate light, the surface of the material being used (for example, the material in an invisibility cloak) must be much smaller than that of the wavelength of light being used.  “The advances in nanotechnology are making it easier to create ever-smaller structures that can manipulate ever-smaller wavelengths,” said Smith.

Students of the Chi Energy Heals School are finding, first-hand, the true nature of the physics behind chi, and how human beings actually interact with and [can] control the subatomic particles that build the Universe as the Scientific Community has recently come to know it.

Strings, Plank Length, and Chi:

As we delve deeper into the building blocks of the Universe, we find that the smallest particle, which cannot be broken down any further, is a “string”.

“String theory is a unified theory of the universe, postulating that fundamental ingredients of nature are not zero-dimensional point particles but tiny one-dimensional filaments called strings; string theory harmoniously unites quantum mechanics and general relatively, the previously known laws of the small and the large, that are otherwise incompatible.”-  Brian Greene, The Elegant Universe

According to string theorists, it is proposed that strings are the smallest forms of energy in the known Universe.  A string’s length is “about 10-33 centimeters,” Brian Greene The Elegant Universe.  This length is called “Plank length”, and is smaller than the subatomic particles that make-up the photons that, in turn, make visible light.

Please note: nanotechnology has yet to reach the subatomic sizes of plank length, however; practitioners Chi Energy can.

Chi is a form off electromagnetic energy.  Human beings produce bio-electromagnetic energy; said energy serves as a key component of the functioning of the body, even at the cellular level.  It only stands to reason that many of us are indeed sensitive to and can harness/cultivate more.

Students of the Chi Energy are given step-by-step instruction regarding how to become sensitive to as well as intuitive with the electromagnetic energy they produce as well as the ebb and flow of the electromagnetic energy in the Universe.  Yes, this is a tall order, however; with the assistance of dedicated Instructions as well as a thorough curriculum students of the Chi Energy Heals School are taught to think and feel at the subatomic level.

The possibilities are truly limited only by the individual’s mind.  Using chi to wrap the body in light-diffracting particles is something that is certainly conceivable and, given the proper training, certainly achievable.

We at the School of Chi Energy Heals have found that chi is best developed when a healthy mind and a healthy body work in unison.

Visual Chi Energy Floaties

Posted by admin On June - 27 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Henri Bergson, the French Philosopher who won the 1928 Nobel Prize in Literature, is attributed as to have said: “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.”  Many students of the The School of Chi Energy Heals are experiencing a level of visual acuity never before experienced.  These visual “side effects”, “floaties” [in the fore gaze] and wisp-like movements [from the peripherals] are typical side effects for anyone practicing gi gong activities, and even more so for those engaged in Chi Energy Heals training.

Although speaking metaphorically, Bergson’s genius was more accurate than the science of the 1920s could immediately prove.  Amazingly complex, the human eye perceives much more than typically given credit and is the focus of this article.  Not only will this article discuss the nature of what these intangible “floaties” are, but equally important, provide scientific fact (with accompanying references) demonstrating how it is possible for the eye to register said phenomena.

The anatomy of the human eye is anything but basic.  Within the confines of a very small space (approximately 1 inch long, 1 inch deep and 1 inch wide), the human eye boasts of intricate machinations of about 15 working parts.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/eye1.htm

Deeper still, within these subsystems, specifically the retina, are individual photoreceptors that are responsible for sensing light and varying combinations of the visible spectrum and sensing movement.  Men and women practicing chi gung, and more specifically, students of the Chi Energy Heals School, should direct their attention to three specific areas of interest: rods; cones; and the optic nerve.

Photoreceptors

Rods and cones are photoreceptors and reside in the retina of the human eye.

Whereas the typical human eye has approximately 120 millions rods, the same eye has only 6-7 million cones.  The reason for this, e.g. the role and functionality between the rods and cones, as well as their geographic distribution, will become of particular interest to the active reader.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/rodcone.html

Cones are responsible for detecting light at higher levels of brightness (lumens) and can differentiate color.  They are typically broken down into three major subgroups: short wavelength sensitive cones (S-cones) responsible for interpreting “blues”; medium wavelength sensitive cones (M-cones), responsible for interpreting “greens”, and “long wavelength sensitive cones (L-cones), responsible for interpreting “reds”.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/rodcone.html

http://eosweb.larc.nasa.gov/EDDOCS/Wavelengths_for_Colors.html

Although there are significantly less cones than rods, with a ration of 1/20, cones are focused in the very center of the fovea, whereas rods reside in the actual peripherals of said area of the eye.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/rodcone.html

Rods, conversely, do not mediate color vision; nor do they have a high spatial acuity.

Rods, however, provide a level of amplification that enables “single quantum detection”.

http://www.cis.rit.edu/people/faculty/montag/vandplite/pages/chap_9/ch9p1.html

A photon, the smallest packet into which light can be broken into, is a quantum particle.  The tiny particles that build the very Universe, are, in fact, termed: “quanta”.  This is to say, that, the “floaties” we see, are the natural building blocks of the Universe.  The human eye is sensitive to the degree that is able to register even a single photon packet of light energy.  As our sensitivity grows, we interpret more of these of these quantum particles as “floaties”.  In essence, we are realizing that we can, indeed, see “chi”.

[Articles, such as “Space-time and Chi Power”, “What is Chi?”, and “Electricity” provide detail and addition research and reference materials regarding quantum mechanics and how these accompanying subatomic particles correlate to chi.]

Furthermore, because rods are located along the peripherals of the fovea, as indicated by the graphic below, we can easily surmise why the human eye not only better detects motion via peripheral vision, but also, why we tend to see the movement of the aforementioned subatomic particles via the same vantage point.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/rodcone.html

There are approximately 50-60 million rods located along the outset of each fovea of the eye; each individual rod is capable of detecting a single quantum phenomena.  It is no small wonder that humans engaged in chi building disciplines become aware of and experience this heightened state of vision.

The Optic Nerve

Popular neuroimaging techniques, such as the Electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (meg) rely upon imaging devices that create pictures of the human brain.  Each respective device is tuned to register electronic (EEG) and magnetic (meg) waves emitted by the nerve fibers within the human brain.  [As an aside, the nervous system of the entire human body conducts electricity.]

http://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/electroencephalogram-eeg-21508

http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/1471021/magnetoencephalography

The optic nerve within the human eye provides a direct feed of electric impulse/information from the eye to the brain, allowing the brain to receive and interpret the images of visual sensory information.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/eye1.htm

For men and women training with The School of Chi Energy Heals, especially those within the Instructor Years, a “moment of clarity” should be quickly approaching.  Traditional chi building exercises result in levels of sensitivity to said bioelectric energy to varying degrees.  Chi Energy Heals, as taught thru Sifu Jones’ methodology, deliberately engages the body’s nerve fibers to better harness and more efficiently utilize this same energy.

The deliberate build-up through life enhancing and health promoting exercises, all holistically integrated for a synergistic effect, result in heightened awareness and sensitivities to these quantum phenomena [chi].  With the nerve fibers of the entire body, including the optic fiber, operating with a higher throughput of electric current, it is no wonder that we can not only sense and feel chi energy, but, in keeping with the topic of this article, see it as well.

The French novelist Marcel Proust said: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes”.  We at The School of Chi Energy Heals invite you to not only see with new eyes, but to join us in this voyage of discovery.

Chi & Quantum Entanglement

Posted by admin On June - 27 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Chi & Quantum Entanglement

“When you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you,” Nietzsche.

Nietzsche’s aphorism has a profound truth that is now being investigated by the scientific community.  It also has important ramifications for those doing any type of chi development.

From a scientific viewpoint, the term “abyss” is interchangeable with that of an “experiment” or “system”; that which is being “observed”.

Recently, the scientific community has come to understand that the observer of an experiment/system of study is not impartial; the observer, in the act of observing, is actually part of the experiment and his/her expectations actually influence the outcome of the experiment.  [For a more detailed explanation of this phenomenon, see any book or web resource on the dual behavior of light waves/particles or theories in quantum mechanics].

With this understanding, we can paraphrase Nietzsche: When the scientist looks into a system, the system also looks into the scientist.

This interplay, a form of “quantum entanglement” (a term coined by Dean Radin), happens not only at the sub-atomic level, but bubbles-up into large-scale happenings of our material world.  For example, the tried-and-true practice of visualizing success, from high performance in sporting contests to job interviews to academic achievement, has shown to have favorable outcomes.  The act of desiring the outcome of a situation (system/experiment) actually influences the outcome of said events on some level; the goal, then, of a chi student, is to develop one’s own abilities to gain a greater sphere of influence in his/her life.

Which leads to a very important concept for an individual involved in chi development: the nature of the abyss.

As quantum mechanics has shown, everything is interrelated on [at the very least] a sub-atomic level.  With that being the case, any inquiry, investigation, or observation into a “system” results in that same system becoming directly involved with the observer.

The implications are both many as well as deep.

Psi related abilities, such as clairvoyance, ESP, telepathy, which were once upon a time viewed as an outsider looking in are now seen more along the lines of an outsider joining the observation; upon joining the observation, the individual with said psi capabilities has introduced him/herself to those involved and shared a discourse.  The sensitivity of those involved and the skill to which the chi practitioner uses his/her techniques determines the size of the footprint left behind.  This is all to say: When a chi practitioner performs telepathy, telepathy is performed unto the chi practitioner”.

Please do not gloss over this concept; think long and hard as to what this really means and more importantly, to where this may lead.

Psychic Abilities & Chi Energy

Posted by admin On June - 27 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

ESP and Chi Power Cultivation

The online version of the Encyclopedia Britannica defines extrasensory perception (ESP) as follows: Perception that involves awareness of information about something (such as a person or event) not gained through the senses and not deducible from previous experience.

ESP is often associated with paranormal/psychic abilities such as: telepathy (the ability to communicate via the mind/thought); clairvoyance and precognition (sensing other places, events, people and time); telekinesis/psychokenisis (the ability to move objects via the mind/thought) and many other “psi” related capabilities.

ESP and Science

20th century scientists are finding new evidence, through theories of Quantum Mechanics (the study of how the tiny particles which make up atoms behave), that ESP is a viable phenomenon.  Which is to say, although they are currently unable to “pinpoint” through scientific rigors exactly what is going on with ESP/psi related occurrences, they must admit that “something” is there.

Dean Radin, who has held appointments at Princeton University and Edinburgh University, has published several books based upon his own experiments that give rise to the scientific validity of ESP and psi abilities.

In The Entangled Mind, Radin offers the following regarding the concept of “interconnectedness” at the scientific level: “One of the most surprising discoveries of modern physics is that objects aren't as separate as they may seem. When you drill down into the core of even the most solid-looking material, separateness dissolves.  These connections were predicted by quantum theory and were called "spooky action at a distance" by Albert Einstein.”

Furthermore, Radin writes [ The Entangled Mind]: “Scientists are now finding that there are ways in which the effects of microscopic entanglements "scale up" into our macroscopic world. Entangled connections between carefully prepared atomic-sized objects can persist over many miles. There are theoretical descriptions showing how tasks can be accomplished by entangled groups without the members of the group communicating with each other in any conventional way. Some [scientists] even propose that the entire universe is a single, self-entangled object….

When the fabric of reality is examined very closely, nothing resembling clockworks can be found. Instead, reality is woven from strange, "holistic" threads that aren't located precisely in space or time. Tug on a dangling loose end from this fabric of reality, and the whole cloth twitches, instantly, throughout all space and time.”

Chi and Quantum Mechanics

Radin takes the theoretical leap and connects the dots between Eastern mysticism and current, Western physics.  “The idea of the universe as an interconnected whole is not new; for millennia it's been one of the core assumptions of Eastern philosophies. What is new is that Western science is slowly beginning to realize that some elements of that ancient lore might be correct,” (The Entangled Mind).

Chi, as defined by Eastern mystics, is synonymous with that which Western scientists have called the Quantum Field.  The theories are markedly similar when compared side-by-side.  Each [Chinese Mysticism and Quantum Mechanics] speaks of an energy field made up of tiny particles that comprise everything, and move through everything.  Further giving rise to the feeling of “interconnectedness”.

It is no great wonder, then, that many people report belief in ESP related abilities and/or claim to have experienced these abilities themselves, on some level.

We at the School of Chi Energy Heals believe that with proper instruction and exercises, virtually anyone can be taught how to increase both their sensitivity to chi as well as magnify their chi [output].

It naturally follows that, as the student’s chi and sensitivity to chi grows, ESP related capabilities will naturally follows, and can be honed to the student’s desired results over a period of time.

Levitation

Levitation

Deliberately downplayed to the point of avoidance during the beginning years of chi training, sounds play a rather critical role in the upper echelon of advanced techniques and energy cultivation.

Recently, scientists have made marked strides in the area of acoustic levitation: lifting objects using sound waves.  The concepts and technological specifics of acoustic levitation are in lockstep with this circular method of chi cultivation; further reinforcing the importance of sounds and knowing the specific ways in which to use them.

The article “How Acoustic Levitation Works” does a fantastic job blending the technical specifics without losing the layman in a quagmire of jargon.  It is an excellent primer, allowing practitioners of this circular method of chi building to bridge heretofore gaps and make connections as to why sounds are of such importance, and used with the utmost of care and precision.

From the accidental formation of standing waves and the random acts of havoc they create, to the pheromone burning phenomena of acoustic saturation, sound waves manifest in our lives in very quirky ways.  Without prior knowledge and preparation, even the most mindful and diligent of us find ourselves at the mercy of our own noise pollution.  As we build our energy output to higher and higher levels, we find that every aspect of our being, physical and spiritual, is effected in ways that go far beyond “counter intuitive”.

Take a few minutes to read the article on acoustic levitation, and rethink the importance of tones, circles, and interpersonal relationships.  The light bulb will come on, and you will be in complete harmony with the world around you, making a joyful noise indeed.

In the interim, be well; be mindful.

Chi Energy and Moderation

The School of Chi Energy Heals

Presents Chi and Emotional Stability: Moderation is the Key by Sifu Cindy Cicero

Whether you have a Qigong or Chi Energy practice emotional composure is the essential building block for good health. In the School of Chi Energy Heals we ask our students to build high levels of chi with a good feeling and cool energy.  The advantage of orchestrating emotional balance while building chi or bio-energy for this specific type of practice are the direct and positive physiological benefits that occur in the body.

In this article we’ll provide three of the leading health benefits from building chi or bio-energy in the body with emotional stability along with some biology-based principles that are behind this type of method.

Starting any type of exercise with the proper attitude especially an exercise that builds high levels of bio-electricity in the body releases a hormonal response that lays a foundation for long lasting behavioral changes.

It is this specific chi building practice of using a good feeling cool energy that releases these stress reducing hormones which are the key to great health.  A chemical reaction occurs when we feel free from past or future concerns.  It is what we holistically call the mindfulness moments of our life that floods the blood stream with the right hormones that regulates our metabolism and immune system.
A relaxed good feeling attitude with a genuine smile brings out the serotonin, melatonin, dopamine and cortosol hormones in the right mix for an anti-inflammatory environment for the body to enjoy.
Reference (http://www.chienergyheals.com/category/mind-right/)

As the chi practitioner builds up the bio-energy in the nerve fibers with these types of hormones, the body automatically slows down the aging process, increases energy levels and fortifies great emotional habits.

The physiological changes all come about with right mind intent.  How we move our mind or act our way into the feelings of wellbeing determines what chemical reactions our body is going to produce.   Our mind’s intent should be to build chi that invokes a moderation of emotional content.  Building up bio-energy in the nerve fibers in this way creates a wellbeing feeling that keeps reproduces these good hormones in a balanced amount.

This moderation is the key to a sound and healthy outcome for a chi practitioner’s mind and body.  A sound mind and body has the benefit of having plenty of reserves to handle peak loads of stress when called upon.   Stress does not build up in the body due to the reserves of Natural Killer and T-cells.  It is scientifically proven that only when a person maintains this good feeling mood that NK cells are present and patrolling in the body on the offense before any trouble builds from high amounts of stress.

Chi Energy Heals practitioners are always on their game when following the rules of moderation.  We at the School of Chi Energy Heals have found that bio-energy is best developed by maintaining emotional stability for moderation is the key.

Chi Energy Heals, Electrons and You!

Perfect Circles – Chi Energy Heals, Electrons, & You!

Recently I ran across an article published by Wired Magazine that blew my mind.  I had an “aha!” moment that put a great many things into perspective, and once again,  caused me to reach out to Sifu Jones to not only thank him, but to let him know that once again, science has sided with him and proven his concepts correct.

For the past 10 years, the scientific community has been trying to measure the “roundness” of the electron’s sphere.  According to the article Electrons Are Near-Perfect Spheres:
To be precise, the electron differs from being perfectly round by less than 0.000000000000000000000000001 cm. To put that in context; if an electron was the size of the solar system, it would be out from being perfectly round by less than the width of a human hair.

For those of you already engaged in the circular method that is the cornerstone of the Chi Energy Heals School, I am quite certain a light bulb went off in your mind as well.   The various individual exercises and combinations thereof: hula-hoop exercise; circle exercise; cylinder exercise; etceteras, are all designed with an amazing precision that it is mindboggling to think that we have access to this information at our fingertips.

The exercises, designed to help up harness our own bio electromagnetic energy, dovetail perfectly with the very circular nature of the electron itself.  In short, Sifu Jone’s circular method makes it easy for the Body Mind and Spirit to harness, engage, manipulate and control the very building blocks of the Universe.

For those of you already developing your chi related capabilities but via a different system, I behoove you to look into the merits of this circular method, and the science upon which it is built.
In the interim, be well; be mindful.

Chi Energy and Natural Killer Cells

Chi Energy and Natural Killer Cells

At The School of Chi Energy Heals we take a holistic approach to the services and products we provide for our students and clientele alike.  Chi development requires the integration of a healthy mind with a healthy body.

One of our Certified Instructors, Don Brown [who is an Engineer by trade], is writing a series of articles to show the relationship between science and Chi and how it related to this particular method of Chi development.  In this article, Don provides us with an overview of the biological processes that take place within the body that will enhance the body’s ability to fight off sickness, enhance health, and as a result; help the body grow in strength and endurance.

NK Cells

Natural Killer cells (NK cells) are the body’s first-line of innate immune defense. The term “natural killer” is a misnomer, coined during initial research in the late 70s and early 80s where biologists at the time were not completely aware of what triggered these defense mechanisms; it was originally thought these cells immediately patrolled the body upon creation looking for pathogens.  This is not completely true.  NK cells work in conjunction with other white blood cells, “T” and “B”, and seek out specific pathogens the others are unable to destroy.

Research has shown that NK cells are produced in the bone marrow, and reside in the lymph nodes and the tonsils. "Natural killer cells burst forth from the tonsils, lymph nodes and spleen, and destroy infected and cancerous cells while the immune system's T and B cells are still mobilizing," says Münz. "Without natural killer cells, threatening conditions can get a strong foothold before the adaptive immune response kicks in."

By releasing the proteins perforin and proteases onto the membrane of the virus, the NK cell induces apoptosis; a process similar to infecting the invading cell with a programming sequence causing it to self-destruct.

This is a preferred mechanism when compared to lancing, (physically cutting through the membrane of the invading organism), which would only release the contents of the invading cell into the body.

There is something interesting I found during my research, however, that I would like to share at this juncture and echoes many sentiments shared within this particular chi gung community.  It turns out that a healthy “mind” does indeed lead to a healthy “body”, and the ability for NK cells to operate.

Stress: the NK Cell Suppressor

There have been countless studies on the detrimental affects of stress on the body: physical; emotional; and psychological stresses all do terrible things to the human body over prolonged periods of time.

Dan Kenner, Ph.D., OMD, noted: “When confronted by emotional or physical stress, the brain produces a neurotransmitter that helps initiate the fight or flight response. It directly suppresses NK cell function and other aspects of cellular immunity that relate to innate immunity.”

Dr. Kenner goes further, explaining that “emotional stresses such as grief and fear are shown to suppress cellular immunity and favor inflammatory immune responses, as are physical stresses such as heavy metal poisoning, chemical exposure, nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalances, accidental injury and medical procedures.”

NK Cells and the Mind

Here at, we offer both breadth and depth with regards to meditation techniques and instruction, so at Mindful Life by Design we provide you with not just coping mechanisms, but means of overcoming the pressures of physical living.  We understand the connection between the mind and body, and know that with proper nutrition, exercise, and healthy thought practices, you can assist your body in operating effectively and efficiently.

Through consistent practice, daily meditations cannot only reduce the effects of stress, but actually rid yourself of stress altogether.  Remember, stress actually suppresses NK cells: the longer and more often we are exposed to stressful situations without the tools with which to successful transcend, the greater the likelihood that the body succumbs to pathogens, viruses, and cancers alike.

NK Cells and Chi Power Training

The specifics of “Chi Energy Training” enhance NK cell potency and efficiency.  The particulars of the The School of Chi Energy method, each and every exercise, promote the development, cultivation, and functionality of NK cells.

As previously noted, NK cells originate from within “bone marrow”.  One of the initial exercises we teach our students, bone marrow energy packing, actually fuses the bone marrow with the building blocks of electricity.  Interestingly enough,  “Bio-magnetism: An Awesome Force in Our Lives”, an article published by Reader’s Digest (January 1983), highlights some of the [still] cutting edge concepts the scientific community is, and has been, practicing:

“When a patient with a broken leg that is not healing properly comes to Dr. Basset (Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, NY), he is likely to go home with two heavy pads connected by wires to a box that can plug into an electrical wall socket. The patient puts one pad on each side of his broken bone and turns on the device. Coils of wire in the pad induce a pulsing electromagnetic field into his flesh and bone — a field of energy that somehow commands the bone to heal itself.”

The electrical impulses that heal a broken bone; make healthy a broken bone, assist in the overall healthy and functionality of the bone; e.g. bone marrow can make more and more NK cells when stimulated with electricity.

Although NK cells originate from bone marrow, the cells themselves reside in the lymphatic system, tonsil, and spleen. With our organ balancing exercises, we teach students how to pack energy into the soft tissue organs of the body, including the spleen, so as to ensure proper functionality and specific organ health.  We can intuit from Dr. Basset’s research that the same benefits from exposing bones to low-level electric pulses assist in their healing, consistent exposure to similar electrical phenomena will also assist the organs in a similar fashion. Specifically, in this instance, providing the spleen with health enhancing energy will in-turn, super charge the NK cells residing in said organ.

Finally, it should be noted that NK cells travel to the infected sites within the body through blood within the veins and arteries.  Chi Energy Heals nerve fiber building exercises not only mimic the rotational spin of the quantum particles which build up electricity and chi (photons and electrons), but also provide an aerobic quality that is by nature, heart healthy and promotes enhanced circulation.  By improving the body’s circulation, the NK cells can reach the infected area(s) faster and with greater efficiency, without having to use the body’s energy stores; this way, the body can focus on using the NK cells proteins to destroy the pathogens as opposed to releasing the hormones which create a hostile environment (stress) that will suppress the NK cells, and thereby leaving the body open to additional infections as well as deteriorated performance across the board.

We at The School of Chi Energy Heals have found that chi is best developed when a healthy mind and a healthy body work in unison.  As the preceding article demonstrates, we understand the connections between the mind and body and take these factors into account in all of our chi development exercises and meditation courses.

Chi Energy & Emotional Stability

Chi Energy and Emotional Stability

Emotional-content is an enigmatic concept that is difficult to grasp and at the same time, has concrete ramifications in the quality of life for chi gung practitioners.

Chi Energy, as taught by Instructors Sifu Jones and Sifu Cicero embraces the concept of “emotional content”, and the specific techniques on how to use it to the practitioner’s advantage is part of the School’s curriculum.

In this article, we will provide you with some biology-based principles that show exactly what emotions are made of and provide a glimpse as to how this will affect your chi.

According to Merriam-Webster, an emotion is: “a conscious mental reaction (as anger or fear) subjectively experiences as strong feeling usually directed toward a specific object and typically accompanied by physiological and behavioral changes in the body.”

It is that last portion of the definition on which this article will focus: physiological and behavioral changes in the body.

Hormones: The Building Blocks of Emotions

According to Dr. Barry Sears, there are only two hormones upon which all emotions are based.  “The two primary mediators of emotions are cytokines (hormones that are involved in inflammation) and eicosanoids.”

http://www.cbn.com/health/NaturalHealth/drsears_mindbodydiet.aspx

Cytokines and eicosanoids come in multiple flavors; all of which have a specific role to play.  It should be noted, however, that some of these hormonal derivatives do, in fact, have an overarching negative impact on the body, especially those which encourage inflammation; these types of inflammatory producing hormones are not only associated with depression (unusually large amounts of such agents have been found in the spinal fluid of suicide victims), but have also been shown to adversely affect the production of natural killer cells in the body as they are the main source of the stress hormone cortisol.

As an aside:

According to Dr. Esther Sternberg of the National Institute of Mental Health: “A chronically stressed brain orders release of hormones and other chemicals that tamp down the immune system so it can't fight off disease or speed healing.  Too much stress even ages us faster.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29353787/

It should be noted that the human brain stores and generates “emotions” in its limbic system.  The limbic system itself is comprised of connections of glands and structures that are located on top of the brainstem and are buried under the cortex.

“Limbic system structures are involved in many of our emotions and motivations, particularly those that are related to survival. Such emotions include fear, anger, and emotions related to sexual behavior. The limbic system is also involved in feelings of pleasure that are related to our survival, such as those experienced from eating and sex.”

http://biology.about.com/od/anatomy/a/aa042205a.htm

There are two members of the limbic system which will serve well to illustrate a very important point that is often stressed to members of the Inner Circle: building chi pressure in and running extreme amounts of chi through the brain is something that is rarely recommended.  The sheer amount of electromagnetic pressure along with the stimulation of the receptors of the cells that comprise the limbic system can, in fact, cause the brain to dump large amounts of hormones into the blood stream and throughout the body.  The results can often be disastrous, as each gland produces a specific series of cytokines and eicosanoids; not knowing what, which, how and why could easily lead the chi gung practitioner into a hormonal roller coaster ride that is neither fun nor exciting.

The Limbic System’s Significant Contributors

The hypothalamus is about the size of a pearl, and directs a multitude of important functions. It regulates the body’s circadian rhythms, and is “an important emotional center, controlling the molecules that make you feel exhilarated, angry, or unhappy.” http://biology.about.com/od/anatomy/a/aa042205a.htm

The hypothalamus is responsible for the production of what is called the: Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH).  Abnormal levels of this specific inflammatory hormone that been found in the cerebrospinal fluid of suicide victims.

The hypothalamus also produces Dopamine, which is believed to provide a teaching signal to parts of the brain responsible for acquiring new behavior, similar to Pavlovian dogs.  It also produces Somatostatin, suppresses the release of pancreatic hormones, thus inhibiting the release of insulin and glucagon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothalamus

The amygdala, another significant contributor to the Limbic System, directly affects activities like friendship, love and affection, on the expression of mood and, mainly, on fear, rage and aggression. The amygdala is also the center for identification of danger, which is fundamental for self preservation.

http://biology.about.com/library/organs/brain/blamygdala.htm

With those two very simple examples, it should be quite apparent as to why sending energy into the head could potentially create disastrous results.  Inadvertently increasing or decreasing the production of Somatostatin, for example, could, in fact, have diabetic ramifications of a period of time; as this is the hormone directly involved in suppressing the release of insulin and glucagons.

Causing the amygdala to function in a hyperactive way could for example, cause an individual to confuse the emotional response of something that is dangerous and life threatening with that which is safe and pleasurable.

Although somewhat innocent and well meaning on the surface, running chi through the head could, in fact, debilitating side effects (and certainly altering) results.

We at the School of Chi Energy Heals have found that chi is best developed when a healthy mind and a healthy body work in unison.  As the preceding article demonstrates, we understand the connections between the mind and body and take these factors into account in all of our chi development exercises and meditation courses.

Joy in Recalibrating Bio-Energy Fluctuations

Joy in Recalibrating Bio-Energy Fluctuations
by Don E. Brown II, MSIS
Certified Instructor; Chi Energy Heals

Mindful Life by Design School of Chi Energy Heals

www.chienergyheals.com

A catch phrase often used by the Instructors of the Chi Energy Heals method is the need to “recalibrate”.  Often used in relation to volume of speech and tones, recalibration is a call to mindfulness.

Merriam Webster defines “calibrate” as follows: to adjust precisely for a particular function; to measure precisely; especially : to measure against a standard.  Recalibration, then, is a resetting of these levels so as to continued predictable [and desired] results.

This article is largely for my own edification inasmuch as it is for the rest of the members of the Chi Energy Heals School.  Recently I hit a new threshold in my energy development: my overall throughput of bio electromagnetic energy has increased exponentially, and as such, my previous default settings concerning my tones, volume of speech, and overarching chi building exercises require modification: recalibration is in order.

This is something with which I have been struggling for the past 3 weeks.  Even as a Certified Instructor, the act of recalibrating is a challenge.  It is mindboggling that an increase in chi can affect so many aspects of our lives.  Tones that are personally comfortable come across as harsh, bordering on “angry”; volumes that feel and sound appropriate come across as excessively loud, borderline “shouting”.  It is a very frustrating and confusing phenomenon: during periods like this, individuals with whom we have had fantastic rapports begin to physically back away during conversation and avoid us whereas they once upon a time drew-in simply to be closer to us.

I liken these challenges to a professional athlete- a golfer, basketball player, or quarterback.  Our chi building exercises are similar, in this analogy, to traditional strength training.  After repeated concentrated efforts, an athlete’s bench or military press may gain an increase of an additional 30 to 50 pounds.  Interestingly enough, the celebration is short-lived.  The increase in strength means that their previous strength related efforts need to be recalibrated.  Something that once upon a time required a 35% effort to reach a target now requires less than that; the specifics can only be determined via continued trial and error- their newly developed strength requires less physical effort, but an increase in mindfulness and finesse.

I have experienced this firsthand on many occasions, and continue to do so.  Years ago, via strength training, the same perceived percentage of efforts that I used open the car door resulted in me actually tearing the handle off.  Amazing the first time; confusing the second; by the third time, my Wife was utterly annoyed with me across the board.

Although my challenge in recalibrating my energies is a frustrating task, I am teaching myself to enjoy it.  It means that my energies are growing- which is the whole point of training.  It also means that I am getting closer and closer to achieving my chi-related goals.  Furthermore, although recalibration means that I am technically “off” my desired levels, I view this as an opportunity to fine-tune my sensitivities- not just against myself, but with others as well.

Many of you can nod your head in agreement with this article, as you have experienced this on occasion.  As we grow our energies and abilities, the art of recalibration goes from a “task” to a profound “joy”.  And for those of you who have not yet experienced this- you have something for which to look forward.
